2 Who are we? We are South Tyneside’s Outdoor Education provider
Based locally in South Shields Have a good working relationship with School Been delivering Adventurous Activities for over 30 years We are partnered with Thurston OEC

3 How its going to work We are working in partnership with the school. School staff are; Miss. Stirling – Bronze Mr. Moody – Silver Miss. Russell & Mr. Granton – Gold SOA Staff are; Clare McRae & Simon Woolley

4 What is D of E? The Worlds leading personal and social development programme for young people A progressive programme covering four themes at each level and five at Gold Evidence based online recording programme which tracks a young persons progress called eDofE.

5 Benefits of a D of E Award
Key life skills; time management, decision making, team work, resilience. Self belief and self confidence A chance to give back to society Employers and Further Education providers hold the D of E in high regard and holding a Gold Award as equivalent to an A Level.

6 Commitment The Silver Award will take a minimum of 6 months with 1 hour per week per section (if you have completed Bronze & 12 months for Direct Silver’s The Gold Award will take a minimum of 12 months with 1 hour per week per section (if you have completed Silver) & 18 months for Direct Golds It is up to you to complete the three/four sections with support from School staff if needed with SOA deliver the expedition section and all of its requirements

9 What can you as parents do?
Support through encouragement Support through eDofE Ensuring that the efforts being made are recorded through eDofE so achievements can be recognised. Ensure the use of the ‘keeping track’ book to record assessor evidence

13 Expedition Requirements
Completing a 3 or 4 day journey where you are in small groups, are self sufficient in navigating, camping and working together to meet the aims of their expedition. Is assessed by someone who hasn’t been involved with the training and practice expeditions.

15 Cost Our foot based expeditions are £225pp for Silver & £249 for Gold
