2 AM I TRULY HEARING JESUS?
“He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” (Matthew 13:9, 43) “Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! …unless indeed you fail the test” (2 Corinthians 13:5)

3 God prophesied that He would raise up a Prophet (Deuteronomy 18:18-19).
Men would be required to listen to the Prophet because He would speak what God commanded. God told apostles to hear the Lord Jesus (Matthew 17:1-5). Peter preached repentance because Jesus the Christ is the fulfillment of all Messianic prophecies (Acts 3:17-23, 26).

4 Jesus explained that the condition of a man’s heart affects hearing.
Matthew 13:13-15 Take heed lest you depart from the one faith (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

5 Jesus taught that one who truly hears Him acts accordingly.
“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7:24) “And the one whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the man who hears the word and understands it; who indeed bears fruit and brings forth,…” (Matthew 13:23)

6 Jesus taught that one who truly hears Him acts accordingly.
“To Him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear His voice, and He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out The sheep follow Him because they know His voice.” (John 10:3, 4)

7 What we believe and what we do must be rooted in Christ’s word.
“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17) “But prove yourselves doers of the word and not merely hearers who delude themselves. . . But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.” (James 1:22, 25)

8 Do we hear Jesus, BUT then find ways to justify our compromising choices?
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteous- ness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33) “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.” (Matthew 10:37, 38)

9 Do we hear Jesus, BUT then find ways to justify our compromising choices?
“And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:9) Not all men can accept this statement…” (v. 11)
