Good walkers and runners
Created more complex tools & shelter
Created fire (used to cook animal meat & to keep warm)
Lived longer than other Hominids

5. Homo Sapiens Neanderthalensis
From 230,000 to 30,000 years ago
“Wise Man”
Shorter, Stockier and Stronger than modern humans
Large Brains
Skilled tool makers
Lived, traveled and hunted in a group
Strong sense of community (cared for each other)

6. Homo Sapiens Sapiens From 35,000 to 12,000 BCE Early modern humans
High rounded skulls, large brains, small teeth & slender bones
Created clothing & better tools such as the spear thrower and the bow.
Left a record of themselves through their artwork (cave paintings).
Had feelings, dreams and were able to communicate using pictures and symbols.
