LACHSA Graduation Requirements ( 1 semester class = 5 credits)
4 yrs. English 40 credits 3 yrs. History 30 credits 2 yrs. Science 20 credits 2 yrs. Math 20 credits 2 yrs. P.E credits 2 yrs. Foreign language 20 credits 1 yr. Visual & Performing Arts 10 credits Electives 65 credits Must earn full credit in all required courses TOTAL: 225 credits

PSAT Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) Provides firsthand PRACTICE for the SAT Measures critical reading, math problem-solving and writing skills Receive feedback Enter the competition for scholarships in the 11th grade Offered once a year in October

October 11, 2017 8:00 a.m. – 12:35 p.m. Take Sophomore year for practice Create College Board Account – collegeboard.org Create a Khan Academy Account - satpractice.org You must take the PSAT during your Junior year to qualify to be a National Merit Scholarship Finalist

College Admissions Tests
The SAT is most widely used college admission test Measures reading, writing and math skills Scores for each section range from 200 to 800 Average score is 500 Most students take the SAT for the first time in March 2018 – during spring of junior year

The ACT is college admissions exam that tests students in english, math, reading and science Scores range from 1 to 36 per section. Average score is 20. Optional writing portion (optional cost) Register at actstudent.org ACT is offered 6 times each year

Grades and Credits A+,A, A-,B+,B, B-,C+,C, C- = 5.0 credits
“D” grades = 5.0 credits Students earn credit for high school graduation – a “D” grade will not count for college admission. “F” grades = 0 credits If you fail a required course (English, Math, Science, History etc.) you MUST make it up in summer school.

Transcripts Please check to make sure your 9th grade and summer classes are accurate. New students – verify your information from your previous school is transferred accurately during our four year meeting.
