The CUA Reflective Teacher Model helps prepare pre-service teachers to consider
the overall educational needs of every child;
the variety of aspects of the context in which he or she lives;
the specificity of the subject-matter taught;
the moral and ethical issues in teaching students with regular and special needs.

6. Action, Reflection, Transformation
During their capstone experience candidates complete
an action research project that integrates the CUA Reflective Teacher Model;
an electronic portfolio that presents the candidate’s philosophy of teaching, CV, and illustrations of pedagogical practice.

7. Application to Teacher Education
Students formally apply to Teacher Education at the end of the sophomore year.
Faculty members make admission decisions based on:
GPA
CORE Professional tests in reading, writing, and math
Professionalism and dispositions
Faculty recommendations

Students may choose to complete a minor in education typically requiring six or seven 3-credit courses.
Candidates may choose to major in education and minor in another discipline (modern languages, philosophy, religion, math, English, etc.).

13. Education Studies Program A 4-year Program
The Education Studies program is designed for students who are interested in working in the field of education but not in a school setting, e.g., industry, businesses, hospitals, museums, curriculum development and technology centers, or after-school programs.
