Developing your child’s mental maths skills is an important part of our numeracy lessons and mental maths forms a part of every numeracy lesson. Any home support to encourage children to learn times tables and basic addition and subtraction facts is greatly appreciated. Mad Maths An additional min session every day to consolidate basic maths skills such as number facts, time, calendar and place value.

Reminders P.E. Kit - all items named and in a drawstring bag. Trainers often get dirty so a plastic bag to put them in would be useful. Children need their kits on a Tuesday and Thursday. Earrings should be taken out or taped up if newly pierced. If girls hair is shoulder length or longer, it needs to be tied up. School Uniform – please name everything! Lunchboxes – please name. Nail Varnish – please remove it before the school day or week begins. Jewellery – only medi-alert bracelets, stud earrings and watches allowed. Art Apron – an old adult polo shirt (named) is ideal. Children are encouraged to drink water during the day – could you please provide a named water bottle.

Communication Please come and talk to us – make an appointment either via the school office or homework book. After 8.40, when the children come in, we are unable to see you. Homework communication book.

Parent Helpers! If you are able to help your child’s class in the afternoon, please contact your child’s class teacher via the home link book. Trips – We are always grateful for any helpers for visits. CRB checks – Please let us know if you have this.

Homework Daily: Reading (at least 5 times a week) which should be recorded in your child’s Reading Log. Weekly: Given out on a Thursday and to be handed in by the following Wednesday. Maths Once a fortnight: Maths activity in the maths homework book. Once a fortnight: Activities on Mathletics and practice on Mathletics Live. Any additional support you can give your child with learning number facts, times tables and division facts would be greatly appreciated. Literacy Once a fortnight: Spag.com Once a week: Spelling activity. Once a fortnight: Comprehension from homework book.
