16 Suggested Communications goals for 2017
Facilitate the transition from mandatory use of SLA addresses to optional use of personal addresses for WCC board business. Proactively contact new SLA WCC members to ensure they are able to access the Western Canada community in SLA Connect. Continue to effectively leverage all communication channels to promote chapter events.

20 2016 Year In Review President, Lindsay Tripp SLA:
2016 was a year of big changes for the Association -Successful rollout of a new communications platform, SLA Connect -Formation of a strategic partnership with the association management company, MCI USA -Decision to relocate the 2018 SLA annual conference from North Carolina to Maryland, in response to the state’s discriminatory Bathroom Bill. Chapter: -Lots of successful events (library tours in Vancouver and Victoria; mini-conference in Calgary on marketing our skillset as information professionals; speed networking event in Edmonton; lunch-and-learn with BC Libraries Cooperative in Victoria; data visualization workshop in Vancouver. -Donation of the Chapter’s archives to the Provincial Archives of Alberta for long-term preservation -Creation of a membership dues bursary, which allows SLA WCC volunteers to continue participating in board activities while seeking employment -Establishment of a professional development bursary, in honour of dedicated SLA WCC member Alice Solyma -Redesign of the Chapter's newsletter, Wired West (included a member survey, and piloting of several tools by the working group members)
