Pharmacy Residency Program
One year post-graduate program Clinical rotations (patient-focused care) Drug distribution Research Education/Teaching Leadership Accredited Canadian Pharmacy Residency (ACPR) Accelerates your practice to provide you with 2-3 years worth of experience in hospital pharmacy in just 12 months. Clinical rotations - direct patient care, exposed to different disease states Drug distribution - workflow starting from physician order to pharmacist verification of that order to preparation and distribution of drugs by the physician Research - you don’t have to be a research expert or produce a research project worthy of the nobel peace prize! Residency program is meant to expose you to the research process and develop project management skills Education - facilitate workshops at the faculty, precepting pharmacy students Admin and leadership - rotation with the hospital pharmacy director to learn about pharmacy management You will never get this kind of experience anywhere else!

Not to scare the first year students, but what I meant to say on this slide is that they should start exposing themselves to hospital, ambulatory, or industry pharmacy practice if they are even remotely considering it. Preparation starts now - be involved! Seek out volunteer or work opportunities in the hospital, be a member of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists (CSHP).
