Understand a fraction as a number on the number line: represent fractions on a number line diagram. Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. At the end of the year, your child will take a timed test on multiplication facts. They need to start practicing their tables at home. Also, you may find helpful math videos on On my webpage, you will find the codes for the current skills being taught in Math. ELA – Mrs. Fulton Reading -- We will finish up Unit 5 by planning and writing a published product on Monday and Tuesday. Please encourage your child to take notes and work hard on this assignment. We are at the point in the year where they need to be completing this type of assignment in 2 days, so this is all the time they will be allowed. Language Arts -- We will continue to review the skills we have learned so far this year, like – capitalization, complete sentences, compound and complex sentences, common and proper nouns, verb tenses, possessives, contractions, and subject verb agreement. Ask your child to identify the words they use when they are talking to you as nouns, verbs, or adjectives. This is a basic skill many of them still have not mastered. UPCOMING TESTS IMPORTANT DATES Reading/Language Arts – Mon., & Tues, 2/9 & 2/10 – Published Product, Unit 5 Wed., 2/11 – Vocabulary Test (1st word “diligent”) Wed., 2/18 – Spelling Test (1st word “ought”) Math – Friday., February 20th – Unit 9 test. Science – There will be quizzes as we finish lessons throughout chapter 5 - Plants February 16 – No School (Presidents’ Day) February 17 – Last Day to Order Yearbook Love Notes March 2 – T-Shirt $ Due for students who were not able to order a shirt at the beginning of the year or who have lost their shirts.
