3 PAS: objective and purpose
Overall objective: to support African integration through better availability and quality of statistical information facilitating decision-making and policy monitoring Purpose: to improve the production and dissemination of good quality statistics in Africa to support the AU in strengthening its institutional capacity to provide comparable official statistics needed to underpin the AU integration process and measure African progress towards global goals

Enhanced capacity, and a more harmonised approach, to the production of good quality statistics for the AU” Provision of methodological and administrative support to statistical working groups, in particular to 5 "Specific Technical Groups" proposed by the SHaSA: National Accounts, International Trade, Labour, Migration Sustainable development indicators, Other statistical domains Governance, peace, security Climate Change

9 PAS support to National Accounts
National Accounts/ AGNA is one of the 5 STGs supported by PAS. The support is given to two main subjects: training in concepts, methods and compilation of National Accounts Support in using ERETES as a tool for National Accounts including the IT-revamping of it Indirect support is coming through activities dedicated to statistical domains with proximity to NA, especially trade statistics and labour statistics. Synergies may also arise from other topics of PAS activities (SDG indicators, publications, website, data base, quality improvements)

Concepts, methods and compilation Workshop / training on the implementation of 2008 SNA in Africa, done in July (En) and October (Fr) Workshop / training with AUC and RECs on SNA 2008 and supra-national compilations, March 2017 Wrap-up meeting with RECs on status of implementation of SNA 2008 in the countries, April 2017 (b2b with AGNA) Technical Assistance on the implementation of SNA 2008 to selected countries (March, April, June, September 2017) ERETES Conduct and analyse user opinion survey (December 2016)

Workshop to validate the improvements of ERETES (March 2017) Make consultation and report on the progress to AGNA and Eurostat (ERETES Steering Committee), April 2017 (b2B with AGNA) Training for trainers for ERETES, April 2017 Carry out a feasibility study for preferred options to rewrite ERETES, from June 2017 onward Prepare complete technical specifications to rewrite ERETES, from July 2017 onward Training of end users in potential countries (beginners in ERETES), starting with two of them in July & August 2017
