Increased reverence/respect for ancestors. The universe reflects a delicate balance between yin & yang.

The “well being” of the universe meant the balance of yin and yang.

Daoism Based off of the teachings of Lao Tzu, or the “Old Master.”

Daoism Sought to live in harmony with nature.

Daoism cont’d People should look beyond everyday issues and focus on “the way” of the universe. Daoists stressed that the ways of nature and the virtue of yielding. Water doesn’t resist, but it yields to outside pressure– yet it’s unstoppable.

Daoism Views government as unnatural and that it causes problems.
The best government was one that governed the least.

Blending the Two Daoism started becoming a religion with gods, goddesses, and magical practices. People started taking beliefs from Daoism and Confucianism and merging them. Confucianism showed people to behave. Daoism influenced the view of the natural world.
