1 “What Ifs and Excuses?” (Exodus 4:1-17)

2 What ifs of Moses and God’s Responses
“What If” of Moses: (4:1) "But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, 'The LORD has not appeared to you.'" God’s Responses: (4:2) “What is in your hand?” (4:6-7) Empty Hand (4:9) Water = blood

3 What ifs of Moses and God’s Responses
“What If” of Moses: (4:10) “I am not eloquent, neither before nor since You have spoken to Your servant; but I am slow of speech and slow of tongue." God’s Responses: "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD? "Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say." (Exodus 4:10-12 NKJV)

4 God Says “Evangelize” (Romans 10:9) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (NKJV)

5 God Says “Evangelize” (1 Peter 1:1-2) Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To the pilgrims of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied. (NKJV)

6 God Says “Evangelize” (1 Peter 3:15) But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; (NKJV)

7 God Says “Evangelize” (Luke 12:11-12) "Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. "For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say." (NKJV)

8 God Says “Worship Me” (Hebrews 10:22-26) let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, (NKJV)

9 God Says “Be Separate From the World”
(2 Corinthians 6:14-17) Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." (NKJV)

10 God Says “Be Separate From the World”
(Deuteronomy 7:1-6) "When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you, "and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. "Nor shall you make marriages with them. You shall not give…

…your daughter to their son, nor take their daughter for your son. "For they will turn your sons away from following Me, to serve other gods; so the anger of the LORD will be aroused against you and destroy you suddenly. "But thus you shall deal with them: you shall destroy their altars, and break down their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images, and burn their carved images with fire. "For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. (NKJV)

12 God Says “Be Separate From the World”
(Joshua 24:15) "And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." (NKJV)

13 God Says “Be Holy” “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, (1 Peter 1:15 NKJV)

14 God Says “Be Content With a Simple Life”
(Hebrews 13:5) Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." (NKJV)

15 God Says “Learn My Word”
(2 Timothy 2:15) Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (KJV)

16 Statistics 25,000,000 copies of the Bible are sold annually in America. Gideons International distribute in excess of 45,000,000 Bibles annually (that’s 86 per minute if you’re curious). 92% of Americans own a Bible 75% of Americans ‘say’ they believe the Bible is either the word of God or inspired by the word of God. Less than 50% of Americans can name the first book of the Bible Only one third of Americans know who delivered the Sermon on the Mount (although many believe it was Billy Graham) 12% of American Christians think Noah’s wife was Joan of Arc.

17 Statistics 80% of American Christians believe “God helps them that help themselves” is in the Bible More Americans know the ingredients of a Big Mac than the sixth commandment. Many Americans can name the four Beatles but cannot recall a single commandment. One third of college students could not identify Matthew as an apostle from a list of New Testament names. In a similar survey of Christian High School students, 80% could not place Moses, Adam, David, Solomon, and Abraham in chronological order.

18 Statistics USA Today reported that 50% of high school seniors think Sodom and Gomorrah were married. According to a Gallup Poll, only 59% of Americans read the Bible occasionally. The same survey revealed that 80% of Americans is too confusing and hard to understand. An interesting quote by George Gallup: ‘We revere the Bible but we don’t read it’. A Tyndale House survey showed than 64% of Americans said they do not read the Bible because they are too busy.

19 Truth Be Known… "O my Lord, please send by the hand of whomever else You may send." (Exodus 4:13 NKJV) “So the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses...” (Exodus 4:14 NKJV)
