4. reached the cave in the mountain of the Lord.
This morning I was reading through 1. Kings 19, and was reminded of the truth that God doesn't stop us from running.  In the case of Elijah, He even provided him with the food to give him the strength to travel for 40 days until he
reached the cave in the mountain of the Lord.

5. God brought him to the place and the time
where Elijah was willing to answer the question,
"What are you doing here?"  
It is interesting that God didn't ask Elijah
this question when he asked God to
take his life.  Rather, God waited until just
the right time and just the right place
when Elijah was willing to answer
the question honestly,

6. and then hear God's answer...that His ways
are not always clearly visible...but by His voice –
His still, small voice –
He is accomplishing His purposes.  
His voice by which He spoke and brought
the world into existence teeming with life.

7. His voice which brings life to that which is dead.
His voice that can calm the waves of the sea.  
His voice by which He draws all men
to Himself...even those who are running.   His voice.  The voice of our Father,
the Lord God Almighty.

8. to just the right place at just the right time when He will ask them
And in this we can have hope and we can trust that He will bring those who are running
to just the right place at just the right time
when He will ask them
"What are you doing here?"
and we can pray that at this point they
will be willing to hear and to listen
and choose to obey His voice.

12. 35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. 36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked
what it meant.

“Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

14. “What do you want Me to do for you?”
40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when He had come near, He asked him, 41 saying,

my sight.”

15. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
42 Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith [in Me] has made you well.” 43 And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God.

17. 41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying,
“If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden
from your eyes.

18. because you did not know the time of your visitation.”
43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another,
because you did not know the
time of your visitation.”

19. the Messiah would present himself
The prophet Daniel, hundreds of years earlier, had been given by God a certain calendar of time which was marked off precisely to determine the date when
the Messiah would present himself
to the nation Israel.

20. And according to the reckoning of
Sir Robert Anderson, former head of Scotland Yard, an English layman with a great knowledge of the Bible, the precise date
on which Daniel's prophecy was to be fulfilled was this day.

22 Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
