Partnership between: City of Huntsville – Operation Green Team Huntsville Utilities Huntsville City Schools Grand Prize $5 Million 3-Year Competition with 2 years of energy saving initiatives Currently Team Huntsville is a Semi-Finalist of 52 Cities Hopeful to be named one of 10 cities as a Finalist January 2015 If selected as a Finalist, cities will report energy savings for government, municipal, and residential meters Each team member has citied aggressive energy saving goals Huntsville City Schools is gearing up for release of those initiatives early 2015

3 HCS Energy Master Plan Current Energy Saving Inventory: Starting 2015:
District-wide Building Automation Controls of HVAC and Lighting LED lights at Highlands campus exterior installed Summer 2014 LED lights at Huntsville Middle Internet Café All new schools to include LED lighting, complete building automation, extremely efficient HVAC systems, and energy modeling Starting 2015: HCS Energy Master Plan targets: Moving toward 100% Central Control of HVAC and Lighting with single HVAC Dashboard Sub-metering facilities with new Energy Dashboard for visibility and education Retrofit Lighting with LED lights at multiple campuses Testing and possible implementation of new materials Research additional funding sources to add to self-sustaining savings

4 TVA EnergyRight Incentives
TVA EnergyRight Solutions Incentive Program Scope of Work: Replaced Gymnasium High-bay fixtures with high efficient fluorescent Replaced incandescent Exit signs with LED signs Added occupancy sensors in classrooms and hallways for control Project materials cost just over $5,600 TVA Incentive $1,340 Estimated Return on Investment in just over 3 years Project installation is complete, awaiting TVA check

7 ADECA Grant Award Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs
Energy Division Multiple school campuses analyzed for right project size and potential results In September 2014, HCS submitted an application for 1 of 4 ADECA grants statewide in the amount of $15,000 Awarded November 10th by Governor Robert Bentley Scope of Work: Retrofit targets specific Huntsville High School fixtures with LED lights Exterior parking lots, courtyard, wall packs, practice gymnasium LED Lights will reduce energy consumption by over 75% from the existing lighting Project will advertise and bid early 2015 and be completed by April 2015 Estimated Project Cost less than $50,000 Yearly energy savings alone over $11,000 per year Estimated Return on Investment just over 3 years
