14 Assessment We utilise a range of methods to assess knowledge, so that information can be tested in classroom and clinical settings to best prepare you for placement and life after your Diploma. Some ways we test theoretical knowledge are: Examinations Assignments Presentations Lab/simulations E-learning Clinical Practice Competency is a Pass/Fail grade before you’re safe to go out on placement What if I don’t pass the first time? That’s okay, there often isn’t a ‘one time only’ assessment and there are usually chances to make up the assessment or reattempt.

15 Clinical Placement Monday to Friday shift work to emulate ‘real life’ as close to possible. AM shifts ( ) PM shifts ( ) You will be buddied with another healthcare worker and will also have an Educator looking after all other students on placement with you. Attendance: 100% required Whilst we do everything we can to organise placement close to home we sometimes are not able to accommodate all requests from all students. Students are required to attend 100% of clinical placement otherwise make-up time will be required in order for students to demonstrate competence. Students will be required to pay an additional amount in order to complete make-up time unless they have been officially granted special consideration. Much time and effort is used to pre arrange placements and the cost of placement is included in the calculation of student fees. Where there is student absence from placement (and there is insufficient time to cancel the placement with the host health service), the student must meet the associated cost for replacement clinical placement(s).
