Benchmarks There are four year degree programs that students could transfer into There are entry level jobs available for students with a degree or certificate and no employment history. Many of our students are already employed in the industry and are simply trying to upgrade their skills by taking one or more of our classes. Some students are focused on obtaining Industry certificates and take a few classes to help them prepare. Many of our students are just beginning their lives and do not have permanent addresses or well-defined educational backgrounds. Our Students have a variety of different goals. This makes it challenging to measure the overall success of our department. We can say that our community is in increasingly dire need of people with Computer Information Science skills While success rates of our students is sometimes difficult to measure, many students are finding new jobs or upgrading their existing jobs, and many others are transferring to 4 year schools.

Program -- Strengths We have friendly, highly trained and competent staff, administration and faculty members We keep up to date with hardware and software changes in an extremely dynamic industry We set priorities with course sections being offered We meet with our advisory committee, take technical classes, and attend webinars and conferences. We meet with High Schools and other Colleges to establish transfer agreements

Program -- Challenges Keeping up with new technology to maximize high quality standards Historically our student population has a lower percentage of women and minorities We could offer more sections than our budget can sustain

Planning Implications
Continue to upgrade curriculum to meet new technology standards The quality of instruction will be enhanced by updating instructional material, teaching methodology, upgrading equipment, and utilizing laboratory space. Invest in new equipment as needed Solicit donations from Industry Set priorities of sections being offered We will meet with our advisory committee, take technical classes, and attend webinars and conferences as they become available. Advertise to recruit more women and minorities in our programs.
