WP11 – DISSEMINATION, COMMUNICATION AND VISIBILITY
This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No
2
Objectives The aim of WP11 is to maximise the impact of the project’s results through dissemination and communication of the project results to a wide range of relevant audiences.

Task 11.1: Prepare and implement Communication and Dissemination Plan
A communication and dissemination plan will be finalised in consultation with other partners in M6 defining key messages, positioning statements and target audiences, and selecting appropriate tools and channels (including relevant conferences and events) to meet the information needs of the target audiences. The plan will be updated annually and a media monitoring report will be consolidated. At the end of the project a dissemination report and a sustainability plan will be delivered. A Final Plan for using and disseminating knowledge will be presented along with the final report that will describe further dissemination of results and the planned exploitation. The Final Plan will cover a period of two years after the end of the project and will be structured following the same dissemination strategies of the initial plan (publication, conferences, networking). Duration: M1 – M6; Task Leader: BLIT; Participants: all partners D11.1: Communication plan (M6) Social media and blogging under way already

Task 11.2: Development of project identity and website
A specific website for the project will be set-up and maintained by Blue Lobster for the duration of the project. During the final year of the project, a plan will be prepared for the ongoing hosting maintenance of the project website after the end of the project. Duration: M1- M6; Task Leader: BLIT; Participants: all partners D11.2: A project identity and specific project website (M6) But we want it sooner! We already have a logo and a holding page:

Task 11.3: Production of dissemination materials for the various stakeholder groups
Leaflets, posters, press releases, policy briefings, articles Social media: and Facebook so far. It must be targeted Source – all of you. Content is required - from all of you. Duration: M1 – M36; Task Leader: BLIT; Participants: all partners D11.3: A mix of communication tools (M36) D11.4: A final dissemination report (M54)
8
Task 11.4: Training workshops/ Summer schools
Two training workshops/summer schools will be organised targeted at early career scientists for the purpose of building such an educated workforce to capitalise on increased demand and new market opportunities that BLUEMED will generate. Additional training activities will be implemented through the exchange of personnel, both through stationing young scientists, including graduates, to perform experimental work at the industrial partners and through hosting of personnel of the industrial partners at the labs of the academic partners. Duration: M4 – M54; Task Leader: BLIT; Participants: all partners D11.5: Two training workshops/summer schools (M54)
9
Task 11.5: Concluding conference
A concluding conference will be organised at the end of the project to present the final results to key target audiences: opinion leaders/regulators, the scientific community, marine-based industry (including SMEs), policy makers, public authorities, media, consumer organisations and the general public. D11.6: Concluding conference (M54)
10
Wide geographic coverage of partners
Several dissemination tools and channels will be applied: a project website, articles targeted at both a lay and a technical audience, press-releases, e-newsletters, an infographic, scientific papers, leaflets, sessions and presentations at workshops/conferences. A social media presence will ensure wider dissemination to different age groups and target audiences. The wide geographic coverage of the Consortium, with broad networks spanning around virtually the entire Mediterranean, will enable far-reaching and systematic dissemination. Each ODYSSEA partner has the required capability to contribute to the dissemination activity of the project.
11
An International Stakeholders Forum
An International Stakeholders Forum will be established to support the dissemination activities. Already in advance of the project, representatives of the relevant sectors and institutions as well as well-known scientists specialising in the relevant fields (marine biology, big data, Blue Growth) will be invited to the International Stakeholders Forum to establish ongoing communication with target end users of the ODYSSEA outputs. These will include commercial entities such as technology providers, marine industries and others. Likewise, non-commercial associations and government bodies will be invited as well as related industries. Representatives of relevant ministries, related government & regulatory bodies, coastal conservation agencies and NGOs involved in sustainable coastal management and biodiversity conservation will be approached as well.
12
Conferences, workshops and events
In the first year, project presentations will concentrate on project’s goals and vision. Presentations of new research results will take place during the last project year. Examples of conferences/workshops focused on ODYSSEA related issues are ICES Working Group on Small Pelagic Fishes, their Ecosystems and Climate Impact (co-chaired by A Tsikliras, AUTh); the UfM (the Union for the Mediterranean) Secretariat; Μaritime clusters; European Parliament (ITRE-Committee on Industry, Research and Energy. SEARICA-Seas, Rivers, Islands and Coastal Areas Intergroup); the Bologna Charter Coordination Board workshops; EUROPHAR EEIG workshops; Maritime Policy Member State Expert Group Meetings (Brussels); UNEP/MAP technical meetings, notably the ones related to the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme of the Mediterranean Sea; National Commissions for Marine Strategies meetings; EMODnet Steering Committees and GEO Business event workshops as well as the Regular Sessions of Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment (CAMRE). (RAED is attending CAMRE meetings). Parties to the Barcelona Convention will be informed on the project progress through regular statutory meetings of relevant governance bodies.
13
Publication of scientific papers and magazines
Scientific excellence and technical skills available within the consortium or built through ODYSSEA project will be used for the preparation of scientific presentations. It is expected that most submissions for publication will be concentrated during the last part of the project. Examples of journals focused on ODYSSEA related issues include, among others, Operational Oceanography, Ocean Modelling, Science of the total environment, Ocean and coastal management, Environmental Pollution, Journal of Environmental Management, Journal of ecological modelling, PLoS One, Journal of Marine Systems, Frontiers in Marine Science, Fisheries Management and Ecology, Mediterranean Marine Science, Scientia Marina, and IME-news. All peer-reviewed articles will be published as open access.
14
Public deliverables Within the limits of intellectual property protection and in line with the Open Access policy, ODYSSEA will disseminate the achieved results through the publication on the open section of the website of public project deliverables. Other outputs publicly available? Could they be sensitive?
15
Target group meetings and workshops
Meetings and workshops will be organized throughout the project in order to involve the target groups selected mainly from the Stakeholder’s Forum. During the execution phase partners will collect data and receive feedback on the project’s performance from end-users. In addition to the members of the Stakeholder Forum, selected stakeholders will be invited to this meeting to initiate an open discussion and analysis regarding the progress and outcomes of the project. Conclusions are sought regarding any next step in the project.
16
A Final Conference A final conference will be organised as part of the dissemination and the exploitation activities, in a location to be agreed, to present the project final results and address directly the scientific community and target stakeholders groups about the project results. The Conference will be held in month 54…ish and will gather all representatives from the partners’ countries.
17
Related research activities
ODYSSEA will advise its findings to relevant European initiatives, most notably to the EC, the European Parliament, European Council, Copernicus, GEOSS, GOOS, EMODNet, ESFRI and in particular all those with strong links to marine and maritime issues, and national initiatives, so that the ODYSSEA findings and project results may be incorporated in the Strategic Research Agendas. In addition, ODYSSEA will look for synergies with ongoing research projects, e.g. with JERICO-NEXT, AtlantOS, FixO3, SeaDataNet, COMMON SENSE, MarCoast, H2020 Bridges, among so many others.
