Best Practices

Initial Business Decisions for Integration
Options for sending prospects and applications Four rules control whether Banner recruit records are created/updated When will we send applications to Banner? Do we need to send prospects? Will we send them automatically or on demand?
13
Provisioning Information
Recruiter Provisioning Information Banner Setup step that speeds implementation and reduces the need for translation tables Typically happens once, but can be iterative New jobs in Banner to provision Validation tables Organizations Curriculum information Prospects and associated prospect information
14
Banner’s Curriculum Crosswalk: SRARICC
Program Crosswalk Banner’s Curriculum Crosswalk: SRARICC SRRRICC – Recruiter Integration Curriculum Crosswalk Process Process (job) that uses SQL statement in nnn_CURR_CROSSWALK rule to populate academic program/curriculum combinations. SRARICC – Recruiter Integration Curriculum Crosswalk form Banner form that displays the list of academic programs used in the integration. It can be populated using the SRRRICC process, or institutions can create the crosswalk rows by their own methods. GORRSQL – Business Rules form Form that displays the CURR_CROSSWALK rule. The SQL statement in the rule can be modified by institutions if desired.

BRIM Integration Logs BRIM Application logs
The level of detail in these log files is controlled by settings in the brim_configuration.groovy file. These logs could be located in the DOMAIN_HOME/target/logs or in a location specified in the startup parameters of the managed server where BRIM is deployed. brim.log brim_event.log WebLogic Managed Server Logs These logs are located in the director for the managed server where BRIM is deployed. For example of the BRIM managed server is called BRIMServer, the log files will be in: DOMAIN_HOME/servers/BRIMServer/logs BRIMServer.log BRIMServer.out

Extending the Integration - Overview
Exporting Custom Fields to Banner What are custom fields? Custom fields created by institutions in Recruiter to meet specific needs Existing fields in Recruiter than are not part of the integration objects Fields included in the integration that may also be applied in Banner in a different way What fields are included in the delivered Integration? Recruiter to Banner Field Mappings.xlsx
33
Extending the Integration – How it Works
Add additional fields to the export map in Recruiter; the additional fields are appended to the JSON when you send a prospect or application to Banner Additional field values are loaded to a new temporary table in Banner: SRTCSTM Custom PL-SQL package is called by the Banner Push process and handles the new data (Last step in the PUSH process)
34
Extending the Integration – Instructions and Examples
The document Integrating Recruiter with Banner contains instructions on setting up custom integration and also has a sample PL/SQL procedure using the example of Incarceration indicator (bio/demo record - SPBPERS) Other examples may be available through Ellucian Professional Services or from other customers via eCommunities.
35
Integration Top 5 Key Success Factors
Test the round trip integration thoroughly to be sure all elements are configured correctly and communicating properly. Be thorough and careful with provisioning of validation lists to avoid unnecessary Loader Errors later on. Be sure all settings are correct in Recruiter, BRIM, BEP, and Banner. Clone both Banner and Recruiter at the same time to avoid synchronization issues and save BEP and BRIM configurations before cloning over them. Review documentation (“Integrating Recruiter 3.x with Banner”) to further understand the integration/provisioning workflows: Import items received, export supplemental information, and Financial Aid.
