3 Fundraising Collaboration
Most important thing to keep in mind about fundraising is to remember you are not alone. By partnering with other organizations you can increase your outcome. For instance, if you are planning an event, find groups that are doing similar events and share the success with half of the output. The success of Halloween Bash 2012 was the result of Program Board, Valley Nights, RHA, Student Life, and Campus Recreation partnering together to do one large event instead of several smaller competing events with a similar theme Collaborating does not have to mean that you work closely with other organizations either, it can mean not competing with each other too. If your organization is interested in collaboration for an event, contact Tony Cianciolo at

4 Fundraising Sales Selling apparel with your organization’s name/logo is a long standing idea which is very popular. Encourage students to buy the apparel by having the shirts relatively cheap and have a cool design. Keep in mind that majority of students are not as passionate about your organization as you are. For example, you may think that because students don’t have a t-shirt from your club that this will be an incentive to buy one. Students wants cheap shirts with a cool design, a fundraising purpose is a bonus (BOV)

5 Fundraising Fundraising Event
Partner with a local restaurant that is willing to split the profit of the night in return for bringing in more business. Businesses that have done this in the past include: Bennigans Buffalo Wild Wings IHOP

6 Fundraising Allocation Ask a RSO or department for an allocations

7 Fundraising Donation Ask alumni of your organization for a donation in exchange offer to have them recognized in some way. If your organization is a recreation team, invite the alumni which donate and at “half-time” show them your appreciation by making an announcement.

8 Fundraising Sponsorships
Don’t forget that businesses are looking to be advertised on campus. You are their ticket to get onto campus, so don’t be afraid to contact businesses about sponsorships. there are many local businesses in the area that have a long history of sponsorships. Businesses cannot sell anything on campus, this includes contracts. Businesses can only tell students about their businesses and what it offers

9 Budgeting How to check balance Creating a excel spreadsheet
Using the Orgsync Module Allocation of funds

10 Budgeting How to check balance
In order to check your organization’s balance on Cardinal Direct, you will need to know the organization’s account number. Account number can be found in your Orgsync portal -> Settings -> Profile -> green “Next” button. SVSU Agency Account Number Once you login into Cardinal Direct click on “Employees”. On the right side click “Budget selection” enter your account number there If an error message pops up instead, that means you do not have permissions for any organization. Keep in mind that it takes time for the accounts to be updated

11 Budgeting Creating an Excel Spreadsheet Using Orgsync’s module
There are sample budgeting excel sheets available for any business/organization. Using Orgsync’s module There is a budgeting module available to all organizations on orgsync. To turn this system on, go into “Settings” click on the “Permissions” tab at the top, and Click on “Checkbooks” button to enter that section. This module is a simple plus or minus checkbook. Only recommended for small organizations with only a few expenses a year. Positives of this module are that it can be accessed by anyone you grant permissions to, and can be accessed anywhere. A large negative is that it does not connect to your SVSU account, so there is no guarantee that the amount shown is accurate to your actual account total.

12 Allocation of Funds A recommendation is to allocate your funds properly, an organization may be surprised by the cost of something as small as office supplies or promotional posters. Try and keep your records current and accurate, this will help your organization the following year in knowing what costs to expect.
