2. Background of Trust and Obey
Daniel Towner, a hymn writer, heard a young man in a religious discussion one day in As he spoke, others could tell that he had little Bible knowledge or doctrine. However, his last words were, “I’m not quite sure. But I’m going to trust, and I’m going to obey.”
Towner wrote these words down and gave them to John Sammis to write lyrics for the song he composed

3. Verse 1
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word, what a glory He sheds on our way! 1 John 1:7; 2 Cor. 2:16-4:6
While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, but His smile quickly drives it away; we can face any problem in life if we remember His love for us 2 Cor. 12:9-10
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear, Can abide while we trust and obey.
Satan may try to put wrong ideas into our heads, but our hearts will not receive them as long as we trust in God’s word and obey Eph. 6:16-17; James 1:22

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blessed if we trust and obey.
