Bike Check – before entering Athlete’s Lounge
Refer to 5.2 in competition rules Handle bars with clips-ons (all athletes) Wheels (all athletes) Bike frame (25% of athletes) Saddle position ( -5 cm ≤ Men & -2 cm ≤ Women ) Approved exceptions on ITU website: Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the referee at the end of the athletes’ briefing

Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race caps) – photos taken of each uniform Run caps also will be checked Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution (1 for the ankle) Swim cap distribution Leave your bag in the Athletes’ Lounge

Check in - Transition Area
Helmet check - Don’t leave your helmet fastened in the transition The athlete who fails to comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 Running shoes outside the box, helmet on the bike The bike must be racked in the first transition by the rear wheel and in the second transition by the front wheel Spare wheels left at the Athletes Lounge

10 minutes before start - line-up in Swim start Area As introduced Jog to the swim start area Select your position, remain there and stay behind the line! Blocking two positions – immediate DSQ

Start Procedure Athletes in position:
The start can be given any time after the TD announces ”On your mark” Air horn blast The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1.

False start Several horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid Start but with Early Starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 10 seconds in TA1 during which the athlete cannot touch any of their equipment

Flat and technical with 2 X 180 turns 2 Wheel Stations 1 Team wheel station (Wheel Stop 1) 1 Neutral wheel station (Wheel Stop 2) Discard plastic bottles and litter in the Littering Zone (located directly after the wheel Stations) or you may receive a time penalty Lap Counter: at the end of TA, right hand side Lapped athletes are out of the race

Run Penalty Box The penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, bike and TA2 Transition will be videotaped for infringements Location: 30 m before the Transition Area Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 10 seconds penalty served on any run lap If you don’t stop it will result in DSQ

Post-race Procedures No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area For Top 3 & Series Leaders: - TV/Flash Interviews - Medal Ceremony - Media “Mixed Zone” Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed: Ambush marketing rules apply Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes.

Ambush marketing is defined as:
“Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is: forfeit their prize money for that event

Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation, but for team doctors only! Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate (Dr. Carsten Damm)
