1 Superheroes of the word
Sin: The “Kryptonite” Of The World

2 Why Are We Here? "In this world, there is right and there is wrong...And that distinction is not difficult to make. The powers we have...The things we do...They're meant to inspire ordinary citizens...Not intimidate them...Not terrify them." --Superman

3 Every Superhero has a weakness
Most people don’t like to recognize their weaknesses. No one is unable to be defeated. For the Christian, our Kryptonite is SIN If we are to defend the truth, we must understand the nature of sin – both for ourselves and for the lost in the world.

4 Does The World Want to be saved?
I’m okay. You’re okay. Most people aren’t looking to be saved because they’ve been deluded into thinking they are fine. Nothing could be further from the truth.

5 1 Corinthians 1:18,21 “For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God….For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

6 Even “Christians” Don’t Want The Truth
2 Timothy 4: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

7 The Whole Counsel Of God
As “SUPERHEROES” of the word, we are bound to teach the whole counsel of God. Acts 20:27 – “For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.”

8 We Must Preach About Sin
That’s uncomfortable – because we are sinners. “Who are you to judge me?” Truth: Romans 3:10, 23 – “As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, not even one…’, …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God….”

9 As A result, all are dead Romans 6:23 – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

10 Sin is lawlessness 1 John 3:4 – “Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.” Why is our world in such a mess? Why does it seem like those in the darkness want it to get even darker? Why do those in the light dabble in darkness?

11 We are all sinners 1 John 1: If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

12 The Terrible Results of Sin
Physical death: Genesis 5:5 – “So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.” Spiritual death: Ephesians 2: And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.”

13 Sin Brings Separation From God
Isaiah 59:1-3 – “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and you God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken falsehood, your tongue mutters wickedness.”

14 Sin Makes a Grave Problem
When we die, we go into a grave. We will NOT stay there. Revelation 20:12-15 – “And I saw the dead…standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds….Then death and Hades were throne into the lake of fire. This is the second death….”

15 To Save Others, We must be saved
Titus 3:3-8 We once were disobedient Enslaved to various lusts But God our Savior saved us according to His mercy, not our deeds. We were washed, regenerated, renewed by the Holy Spirit Justified by His grace Given hope of eternal life

16 1 Peter 2:3 “[Long for the pure milk of the word] …if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.” This is why we share the gospel. This is why we champion the word of God. This is why we desire to be superheroes for Christ.
