1
Transit Etiquette Please think of others
2
Line up Make a single or double line and don’t push.
It is not acceptable in Canada to push and shove to get on a bus. We don’t want to give Canadians bad ideas about immigrants
3
Let passengers exit first
Wait patiently Stand to the side and let other people off first. Don’t try to get on until everybody gets off. Give people more room if they have a cane or a baby stroller
4
Move on back Let as many people as possible on the bus. Don’t make people wait for the next bus because you don’t want to move back
5
Courtesy seats Leave the seats at the front for older or disabled people If the bus is crowded, don’t sit on those seats. If you do, be prepared to offer your seat to someone who needs it. Don’t look at your phone and pretend you don’t see other people.
6
Keep your backpack on your knee
If you don’t want to stand, why should others? When the bus is crowded, someone needs to sit beside you.
7
Keep your voice down Nobody wants to hear your phone conversation
Nobody wants to hear you talking to someone at the back of the bus either. It’s rude to be loud.
8
Eat at home Nobody wants to smell your food. Others might be hungry, so it isn’t polite to eat on the bus and you might make a mess
9
Take a shower This way, others won’t have to smell your bad body odor.
10
Have a good ride! If everybody is polite and thinks of other people, we will all have a good ride home.
