World Challenge – Group 1
There is a meeting for all group 1 challengers Wednesday (8th March) lunch time in room 219. Come along at 1.15pm and bring your lunch with you. It is important that you all attend. Work on the Atrium has been postponed so anyone who has the following lockers can now use them again. W1 to W19 GT1 to GT15 G245 to G332 Can all students who use these lockers please make sure they are emptied again before the end of day on Friday 24th March. Anything left in these lockers will be removed after this date.

Modern Apprenticeships in Business Administration
The Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) annually recruits school leavers to its Pathways Modern Apprenticeship programme in Business and Administration. If you are enthusiastic, hard-working and committed to the challenge of work and study for up to two years then this could be the opportunity for you. During your training you will work towards an SVQ Level 3 in Business and Administration and study part time at Edinburgh College for HNC Administration and Information Technology. Requirements You should have or expect to achieve at least one Higher pass at C in English, Administration or Business Management or a group of National 5s including Administration or Business Management. In addition you must have good written and spoken communication skills and be able to demonstrate attention to detail. Open Morning The SQA is holding an information morning for prospective applicants from 10am to 12 noon on Thursday 9 March at its Headquarters at Wester Shawfair, Lowden, Dalkeith. Please let Miss Douglas, in Guidance, know if you plan to attend.

Technology Apprentice Insight Day Monday 6th March 2017
To launch National Careers Week and Scottish Apprenticeship Week, RBS will be hosting a very exciting event to give you insight about what starting your career as a Technology Apprentice will be like! Over a half day session, you will get to meet a selection of apprentices – each with a unique story to tell about how and why they came to join us, a perfect opportunity for you to ask everything you want to know about apprenticeships. We will also be running coding workshops throughout the day that will be aimed at all levels of experience; so if you are a novice and want to learn a new skill, or want to impress us with your talents – make sure you come along this event! And as well as that, we will provide you with insider tips on how to get through the recruitment process too. Apprentice Career Development Day Monday 6th March 2017
At RBS we understand that school leavers have lots of decisions to make, and there are lots of opportunities for you to explore! If you are considering an apprenticeship and want to know more about them and the career opportunities that taking this route can provide you with, then why don’t you come along to the Apprentice Career Development Day. The event will take place on Monday 6th March 2017 and will be a whole day of activities to provide you with lots of information and really useful skills to make you stand out against other candidates. There will be guest speakers that will talk about their personal journey and you will get an exclusive insight to the RBS initiatives that make us determined to succeed, for both our customers and employees alike. Charities Committee Thank You
The School’s Charity Committee just want to say a big thank you to the pupils and staff at Lasswade High School for all their support. Due to your generosity we have so far managed to donate to the following charities: Bright Sparks, Teenage Cancer Trust, Save the Children and the School’s own South African Committee.

Apprentice Greenkeeper
Broomieknowie Golf Club is currently recruiting an Apprentice Greenkeeper. The role will involve the following: Working under instruction from the Course Manager on the maintenance of the golf course – in the preparation and care of the greens, tees and bunkers The use of appropriate equipment – hand propelled and power driven, together with vehicles in normal use on a golf course The use and functions of fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides and weed killers Knowledge of watering systems and drainage The successful applicant will learn on the job under the instruction of the Head Greenkeeper, Hamish Brough, and attend part time training in Greenkeeping at Elmwood College, Cupar. College fees will be paid by the Golf Club. Applicants must be aged 16 to 18 and although, a driving licence is beneficial, it is not essential.
