Geometry City

Day 2 Step 1 Draw 3 parallel roads, and name them.(The names can be real or made up. For example: Kid Avenue, Taylor Road, Williams Boulevard.) Your map will look much neater if you use a ruler to draw the lines for your roads. Also make sure that all roads are the same width.

Day 2 Step 2 Draw 2 roads that are each perpendicular to at least one of the 3 parallel lines, and name these roads.

Day 2 Step 3 Draw 2 intersecting roads on your map. They may intersect each other, or any of the other roads. These roads intersect, but are not perpendicular. Name these roads.

Day 3 Step 1 Draw a Compass Rose using rays. Be sure to label the intermediate directions as well. Draw it on the bottom right-hand corner of your poster. (Hint: North, Northeast, East, Southeast…)

Draw Your Right Angle Here
Day 3 Step 2 Make 3 road signs that look like the picture below. Label and draw one Acute, one Obtuse, and the last one Right Cut out your road signs and place them on your poster Draw Your Right Angle Here Right

Day 4 Step 1 Draw a house with an isosceles triangle as the roof.
Draw a tree to the right of the house. Create a right triangle birdhouse in the tree. Draw a welcome mat at the front door that has a scalene triangle on it.

Day 6 Step 1 Use the construction paper provided. Create the following buildings and then cut them out and glue them onto your map: Square Rectangle Trapezoid Parallelogram Rhombus

Day 6 Step 2 Name your buildings with mathematical terms: Examples:
Squares R Us Rhombus Police Station Ralph’s Rectangular Restaurant

Day 7 Step 1 Create windows for your buildings. Use the 4 polygons below for your windows. Pentagon Hexagon Heptagon Octagon

Day 8 Step 1 Create a flower bed to the left of your house. Use the 4 polygons below. Nonagon Decagon Hendecagon Dodecagon

Day 9 Step 1 Welcome to Geometry City
