However – the following may occur FSKOCM02 - Engage in basic spoken exchanges In this unit the Foundation Skills are not overtly named, but are explicit within the Performance Criteria. So to recognise these Foundation Skills the Performance Criteria must be reviewed. © Community Centres SA 2016

7 It is clear, from the highlighted sections of the performance criteria, that Oral Communication is the ACSF Core Skill embedded into this unit. A performance feature could be, “Understands and responds appropriately in highly familiar oral contexts where exchanges are short and explicit.” I have selected this due to the fact that there is emphasis on accuracy of speech and strategies being used to maximise effectiveness of exchanges. © Community Centres SA 2016

11 Selecting a Suitable Unit for an ACE Course
Is the ACSF Level of the Unit Suitable for the Prospective Learners? It is a requirement that the anticipated capabilities of the targeted cohort of learners would enable them to achieve competency in the ACSF Core Skills at the named level. This requires the Tutor to make an educational assessment of the learner cohort and to also plan content that is aligned to the identified ACSF level of complexity. © Community Centres SA 2016

12 Selecting a Suitable Unit for an ACE Course
The ACSF Level of Complexity At each level of each Core Skill there is a table such as the above detailing the complexity expectations or standards which demonstrate achievement of the level. © Community Centres SA 2016
