5 The Inventory Research of Nang-Loeng District Conservation, Bangkok, Thailand

6 Background NL is one of the old commercial area of Bangkok. This market opened since March 29, 1899 was built on the old cemetery ground of Wat Sommanut Worawiharn. The word Nang-Loeng was originated from E-Loeng which was the name of a kind of jar made by Mon people (peguan), the Mon people transported their jars for sales at this area.

15 Historic Integrity Location: NL is located on Ratanakosin Island, the oldest area of Bangkok Setting: surrounding area still much the same as during the historic period Design: NL retains its historic design characteristics Materials & Workmanship : mostly buildings are keeping original materials. After all, one of the reason is the limitations from rent contract and regulations. Association: There is one of the most famous movie star use to live in NL. Feeling: NL , an old commercial community, is located on the Royal family residential area that famous for Thai food & desserts.
