Cyprus is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, off the coasts of Syria and Turkey. Cyprus is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean, and a member state of the European Union. It is located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel and Palestine, north of Egypt and east of Greece.

SIGHTS CHURCH OF AGIOS LAZAROS, LARNAKA
The church of Agios Lazaros is built on the coastal zone of the city of Larnaka and is the primary place of worship of Agios Lazaros in Cyprus. KOLOSSI CASTLE The castle is located at the south edge of Kolossi village, which is situated on a coastal plain about 11 kilometres west of Limassol. It is one of the most important extant fortification works of the Frankish period, an impressive, square, well-built building comprised of three floors.

FLORA AND FAUNA With its approximately species, subspecies and varieties of flowering plants, Cyprus is an extremely interesting place for nature lovers and has all the attributes which make it a botanist's paradise. Being an island, it is sufficiently isolated to allow the evolution of a strong endemic flowering element.

FLORA AND FAUNA The present-day fauna of Cyprus includes some 7 species of land mammals, 26 species of amphibians and reptiles, 365 species of birds, and a great variety of insects, while the coastal waters of the island give shelter to 197 fish species and various species of crabs, sponges and Echinodermata. The largest wild animal that still lives on the island is the Cyprus moufflon (Ovis orientalis ophion), a rare type of wild sheep that can only be found in Cyprus. Cyprus is used by millions of birds as a stopover during their migration from Europe to Africa and back.
