The table on the right shows the technical details of the ETERNUS CS200c S3 systems.
The Entry-S model is a “cost optimized entry hardware” with lower CPU speed, less RAM and less controllers, on the other hand, the two Scale models are the „flagship“ of the appliance.
CPU and RAM give the systems enough power to serve all Commvault software requirements.
All models are using SSDs for operating system, databases, index cache, etc.
The overall performance is driven by the success of deduplication. Please be aware that the deduplication factor depends on the user data and user environment!
The complete backup disk space is configured as RAID 6 (6+2) and therefor best protected against data loss.
The FC controller is planned for „LAN-less“ and „server-less“ backup designs: E.g. IntelliSnap mounts from ETERNUS DX snapshots to the CS200c or VMware SAN mode backups. The same functionality can be reached with iSCSI connections via the 1 Gbit or 10 Gbit connections.
The SAS controller is foreseen to connect optional tape libraries from the ETERNUS LT series.
All ETERNUS CS200c systems are manageable via iRMC on an additional dedicated LAN port.

The ETERNUS CS200c appliance uses mainstream functionality of technology-leading Commvault software with built-in deduplication and can be extended with enterprise functions like snapshot & replication and application support.
The Appliance Foundation software provides Backup & Recovery and archiving for file clients for unlimited number of clients, Virtual & physical systems. The second tier backup - creating copies of data on the appliance disk storage (not to 3rd party disk storage systems) – is already included in the normal appliance features.
The ETERNUS CS200c delivers native support for cloud backup supporting a RESTful interface.
Additionally the hardware snapshot support of Fujitsu Storage ETERNUS DX/AF arrays using ETERNUS Snapshot Manager is supported, customer have only to buy the standard ESM license for each ETERNUS DX/AF array! 
Important note/hint: The capacity is licensed, number of clients doesn’t matter  Advantage: No extra costs for licensing and service when adding clients during investment period
Options
The Appliance Foundation Software can be extended as an option with application support of all classes (class 1,2,3 – Windows, Linux/Unix and SAP). (All data backed up from applications will count against the total storage licensed by the software). Other enterprise functions like snapshot & replication or tape can be ordered.
Tape drive attachment:
Tape is licensed on a per drive basis.  There is no limit to the data moved to tape.  You can make as many copies as necessary and they do not count against the disk TBs licensed in the appliance.  You can allocate a drive in a library to the appliance (assuming of course you have a tape drive licensed in the appliance).
Snapshot and replication is also an option:
The snapshot option is similar to the IntelliSnap feature of Commvault software: a snapshot copy can be stored within the appliance.
Fujitsu ETERNUS Snapshot Manager (ESM): You can use as snapshot support option the ESM in combination with ETERNUS CS200c to create and manage snapshots of ETERNUS DX/AF arrays. This feature requires an ESM license per ETERNUS DX/AF array!
The DPSR snapshot replication option ( similar to the DPSR snapshot replication license model of Commvault software) only applies today to NetApp FAS arrays– specifically SnapMirror/SnapVault operations.  Creating copies of data on disk is already included in the normal appliance features.  Replication in the traditional sense of asynchronous or synchronous writes are still handled by the hardware devices and their own replication capabilities.
Snapshot support incl. replication of snapshots is available as single and or combined license, and is FrontEndTB (FET) based;
Additionally there are delivery models without software licence, named ‘ETERNUS CS200c without license’. The system is pre-configured and pre-installed offering an easy and quick start-up. Use this delivery model for existing Commvault environments and in combination with Commvault solution sets or standard Commvault software licensing. It is an easy way to quickly deploy new Commvault media agents that can be scale and performance-optimized into the existing environment.

Always included is the file based backup, recovery and archiving feature for an unlimited number of file clients of all supported operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix). Backup capacity is measured in Back End Terabytes (BET) which is the amount of storage, available to store backup data. Two license bundles are available.
The Foundation software package can be extended with optional application support on a “per client” base. Clients are available in three classes, 1-Windows, 2-Linux/UNIX, 3-SAP.
Choosing the Advanced software package is preferred, the complete application support is integrated for an unlimited number of clients.
Also the bare metal recovery (1-Touch) is included in both license packages. By automatically rebuilding the operating system, systems can be recovered with defective components such as inaccessible volumes or failed disks without the need to manually reinstall the individual software packages or operating system. Depending on the environment, An dedicated 1-Touch server may be needed.
Endpoint data protection is the Commvault backup solution for desktops, laptops, etc.
Second tier backup, often also called “Replication”, means creating copies of backup data on the appliance disk storage (not to 3rd party disk storage systems), is already included in both license packages. DASH Copy transmits only unique data blocks, which reduces the volume and time of an Auxiliary Copy job by up to 90%. DASH full is the Commvault method to create synthetic full backups.
For tape drive support an additional tape drive license which is countered per tape device is needed. There is no limitation for the amount of data moved to tape. You can make as many copies as necessary and they do not count against the licensed BET of the appliance. You can allocate single drives or drives in a tape library, including VTLs, to the appliance.
With the cloud connector, additional data copies can be created which are located in the cloud storage of external providers.
Deduplication is the main method to reduce the amount of data stored in the back end and can be done on source (the client) or target (the CS200c media agent).
With encryption, data can be protected against unauthorized access during transport between client and media agent or on the backup target device.
Archiving for files can be used to reduce the file server storage and backup date space.
Snapshot is the Commvault IntelliSnap feature. Snapshots are handled by the backup source storage system, e.g. ETERNUS DX storage systems or NetApp filer. Important to know: The optional needed snapshot license is measured in Front End Terabytes (FET). This means the amount of data on the storage system which should be snapped and not the complete volume size..
Snap replication is the replication or copy of a hardware based snapshots, completely handled by the storage system. It is only available for NetApp FAS arrays.
