Emma LEAVERS 2017 Good luck! Springfield School Newsletter
September 2017 Head Teacher’s News Welcome back to the start of the new school year! It was great to see the pupils last week and we look forward to meeting a few more new pupils over the next month. I hope you all had a good summer and are ready for the Autumn which seems to have arrived. It was good to see a good number of families at the Friends of Springfield School Summer Party. We ended up being lucky with the weather and look forward to this becoming an annual event for families to meet each other. To avoid confusion, the Bronze Barrow site is the primary site shared with Madley Brook mainstream primary school and is referred to as ‘BB’. When we talk about the Wood Green site, this is our secondary site on the same site as Wood Green mainstream secondary school and is referred to as ‘WG’. LEAVERS 2017 Good luck! At the end of last year we said goodbye to 7 pupils, Charlie Collins, Tillie Stokes, Gabby Bennett, Emily Davis, Sasha Stewart, Tom Mytton and Jack Curry. We wish them and their families all the best for the future. We said goodbye for a short time to TA Julie Radford who will be back in October. We also said ‘Goodbye and Good Luck!’ to Helen Maycock who will be enjoying some term time holidays. Cath Fairfield is helping out with some temporary teaching and we are pleased that TA Felicity Shepherd decided not to leave after all! We are welcoming 13 new pupils and their families this year and look forward to getting to know them. We welcome Mason Griffiths, Isaac Alexandre, Harry Owen, Mair Lewis, Frankie Ramsay and Lily-Mai Box to Nursery/Reception; James Sclamb in Key Stage 1; Honour Morrison, Oliver Blois, Kai Hej-Dehaghani and Bailey Drury in Key Stage 2 and finally Emily Vickers and Ella-May Mitchell in Key Stage 3. We have welcomed Nicola Evans as our new Key Stage 2 teacher. Unfortunately the new Key Stage 3 teacher was unable to join us. We are currently advertising for several full-time and part-time teacher posts, details are on our website. Thanks to everyone who is helping to support this class as well as other classes whilst we recruit both permanent and temporary teachers. Unfortunately one of our Key Stage 4 teachers, Angus Marsden will be leaving us for a teaching post nearer to his home. Finally, congratulations to teacher Claire Colmer on the birth of her daughter “Molly” in the holidays. Emma

Transport Line Managers Springfield School Newsletter Page 2
For those pupils who have transport provided by the Local Authority [LA], we appreciate how frustrating it can be to resolve some queries as the transport department is particularly busy at the start of the year. Carol Willoughby one of our Senior TAs liaises with parents regarding transport however parents also need to contact the LA. Transport If you have a concern about transport that affects whether your child travels on transport that day, then please phone the WG site office [706662] and leave an urgent message for Carol. If there is a concern that you want support with then please can you the details to our WG office on and Denise [Admin] will liaise with Carol and one of them will speak to you. We have found it better to have information in writing so then sometimes Carol can get an answer before she calls you back. Can we also encourage you to any queries / concerns / complaints to the transport department and copy the school in to the message. We have found it is good to have an trail so that we can be clear on concerns raised and how they are resolved. The is: On a positive note, the drivers and escorts on the transport are very good with our pupils and want everything to run smoothly. I have already had some good comments about how the transport crew have been.
