3 Disclosure None of the workshop faculty have any financial relationship/gain in the material to be presented in this workshop We wish we did! If anyone can figure out how to make a buck doing this, please let us know – mortgages, kids to feed/educate/spouses to support, etc.

4 Workshop Background: PH’s in the US
Approximately 4,300 PHs in US; unknown # of hospitals. 60-70% work in community hospital settings; the rest in Children’s Hospitals, University Hospitals, etc. Unclear % general pediatricians, fellowship trained/subspecialty trained, board eligible/certified. American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) - formal subspecialty board certification for PH’s; fellowship training; grandfathering process to be included.

5 Workshop Learning Objectives
Session participants will better understand/participate in the AAP SOHM Subcommittee on CHs activities. Session participants will better understand the unique/different aspects of working in/directing a pediatric hospitalist program in a CH setting. Session participants will learn from other PHs working in CHs about how they address unique aspects/methods/successful strategies re providing care in CHs. Have some fun – we don’t take ourselves as seriously as PH colleagues in University/CH settings. Shore up/improve/enhance/reinforce our identity as PHs in CHs – We are not 2nd class citizens!
