Writing of The Emancipation
Lincoln could not just take away slavery with out violating the constitutional rights of the slave holder He had to go through many constitutional loopholes to end it He claimed loopholes were instituted to end slavery Initial idea was for the Emancipation to be bait to end the war. The end result was more appreciation of the Union army, and Lincoln from around the world

The Real Meaning Of the Document
To give spirit to the people in the North who were loosing faith. Win the battle, but making it seem like the North didn’t win; Not a desperate act Give spirit to the North to get more volunteers for the army

Immediate effect Made people think it was more of a fight about slavery Allowed military to stop returning runaway slaves Had a better relationship with Europe Gave spirit and more volunteers

Long Term Effect Freed some slaves; decreases cotton production
Takes away almost all of Southern economy Forces South to trade with North Enforces Anaconda strategy

Executive Order Executive orders are not laws
They are a rule or order issued by the president to an executive branch of the government and having the force of law. All presidents have used at least one executive order Executive orders can be rejected President Lincolns’ emancipation was an executive order
