3. INTRODUCTION
The school medical staffs have the responsibility to take reasonable care for the health and safety of students and staff in the school and take every opportunity to promote health of status of children through education.
School has 1 doctor and 4 nurses segregated in 3 different areas.

5. The primary roles undertaken by the school clinic are:
Provide First Aid/Emergency care
Administer treatment to sick students
Assess students to detect early signs of health problem (Head lice, Body Mass Index, Vision Acuity Test)
Document/record all clinics’ visit/incidents/accidents
Plan & Implement Health education/awareness programs for students and staff
Communicate with parents and staff as needed

Notify the parents in serious cases.
Provide referrals if needed.

8. Students Health Records
The team adheres the confidentiality of the health records of your child. We would like to ask the parents to please update the medical records of your child(ren) with attached Medical Certificate from your own doctor. Especially those child who have chronic diseases.

9. Medication Administration
The School Clinic maintains strict and safe medication administration procedures and guidelines for the safety and wellbeing of all students, as prescribed by the Ministry Of Health. The doctor or nurse keep all medications in a safe, locked place for storage.
Supreme Education Council allows only Buscopan and Panadol as oral medicine provided by the school clinic.
Students who take medication at home prescribed by a doctor or over the counter and need to continue it during school hours must have a prescription from attending doctor and/or sign the school authorization form by a parent/guardian.
* Medication should be brought -in the original pack/labeled- directly to the clinic by the parent/guardian, not the student.

10. Emergency and First Aid Treatment
* The medical team will provide immediate first aid treatment to any injured student.
* We will call and inform the parents as soon as possible and ask for ambulance consent if needed.

12. School Trips or Out of School Activity
Special arrangements for student with CHRONIC CASE
The school provides a First aid kits;
- Trip Supervisors or Teacher-in-charge should get the First Aid kits from the clinic.
- School buses are also equipped with First Aid kits.
Parents of the student who have chronic disease must communicate to the teacher/principal regarding their child’s condition prior to school trip.
If he/she is fit or unfit to join the trip, should provide Medical Certificate if needed and/or join him/her during the trip

13. Hot Weather Condition
* School monitor the Heat Index Daily and advise the students if they need to stay indoors or outdoors during breaks or activities.
* Your Child(ren) will be kept inside the building if the weather temperature is at or above 38 degree Celsius.

15. Disease Exclusion from School Fever Chicken Pox Conjunctivitis
Above 37.5c Core Temperature (Ear, Mouth & Arm Pit should add 5°C)
Chicken Pox
Until fully recovered or at least one week after the eruption first occurs (subject to change as per the doctor advise). All lesions should be crusted.
Conjunctivitis    
Until discharge from eyes has stopped.   
Hepatitis A
Until receipt of a medical certificate of recovery from infection but not before 7 days after the onset of the jaundice.
Hepatitis B
Until recovery from acute attack.
Impetigo (School sores)
Until sores have fully healed.  The child may be allowed to return earlier provided that appropriate treatment has begun and sores on exposed surfaces are covered with moisture proof dressings.
Measles
Until at least 5 days from the appearance of the rash or until receipt of a medical certificate of recovery from infection.

16. Meningococcal Infection
Until receipt of a medical certificate of recovery from the infection. 
Mumps
Until fully recovered, at least days after Onset of symptoms or until swelling goes down.
Pediculosis (Head lice)
Until hair is clear of Head lice.
Pertussis
(Whooping cough)
Until 2 weeks after the onset of the illness and until medical certificate of recovery from infection.
Ringworm
Until appropriate treatment has begun.    
Diarrhoea
Until there has not been a loose bowel motion for 24 hours.
Rubella            
Until fully recovered or until at least 5 days after onset of rash.
Scabies           
Streptococcal Infecti on (including Scarlet Fever)
Until receipt of medical certificate of recovery from infection.
Trachoma
Tuberculosis
Until receipt of medical certificate from a health officer stating that the child is not considered infectious.
Vomiting
Until there has not been vomiting for 24 hours.

17. School Health Programs

18. Head Lice Screening Our School has NO nits policy.
On termly basis, school nurses conduct a head lice check-up for the students from KG 1 to Yr. 6. All parents of the positive students will be informed right away.
Positive students will be excluded home to start treatment on the same day until the hair is Nits Free.
Returning students shall be checked by the nurse prior to be admitted in class.
A clear and detailed leaflet will be handed to the parents of the positive students.
Parents are welcomed to contact the school doctor/nurse for further assistance or advices.
Target Year : KG 1 – Yr. 6
Date: 1st week of every Term

19. Vision Screening Test
Vision screening is an efficient and cost-effective method to identify children with visual impairment or eye conditions that are likely to lead to vision loss   so that a referral can be made to an appropriate eye care professional for further evaluation and treatment.
Year Levels : 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9
Target Date: 3rd week of November to December
Parents of those who have difficulty during screening will receive a letter from the school saying that they have to do further investigation for their child(ren).

20. School Health Teaching Program
The Medical team conduct a health education to provide awareness to the students. All the topics will be based on Public Health Care Corporation (PHCC) Health Awareness Program.
Year Levels : All Year Level or will depends upon the topic discussion.

21. Vaccination
Medical team assist in the vaccination program of SCH to provide immunity to the students in certain diseases.

22. BMI Screening Program
Body Mass Index is an indicator of the amount of body fat for most people. It is used as a screening tool to identify whether an adult is at a healthy weight.
Year Levels : All Year levels
Target Date: February to March
Parents will received a letter from the school with the Height and Weight Results of their child.

23. MMR Vaccination
is an immunization vaccine against measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles). It is a mixture of live attenuated viruses of the three diseases, administered via injection.
Year Levels : KG 1 to Yr. 7
Distribution of Consent: 4th week of September, 2016
Collection of Consent: 1st week of October, 2016
Tentative Date: 17 th October-14th November

24. TDap Vaccination
Tdap is a combination vaccine that protects against three potentially life-threatening bacterial diseases: tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (whooping cough).
