St. Paul Renovation and Repair Recommendation Team
ACTION PLAN First presented to Council September 12, 2016 Updated for Adult Forum May 7, 2017

Objectives: Recommend ways we can update our use of our facility to make St Paul more WELCOMING to visitors and potential new members. Recommend renovations and repairs that will make our facility more INVITING to both visitors and members. Did not consider projects outside of these objectives, such as repair/replacement of the organ or roof/steeple repairs.

Methodology Building Use Survey
Distributed over 75 surveys Received 4 back in print form & had numerous in-person survey discussions with members. Discussions with Key Building Users/Maintainers Vanessa Young Kimberly Olsen Dan Geiseman (Personal Touch Janitorial Inc.) Building Usage ADULT FELLOWSHIP:
Fellowship Hall coffee hour currently for “insiders” Create welcoming adult education and fellowship “HUB” possibly incorporating Circle Drive entryway More visible to visitors Easier access for senior members Easy transition to outdoors Announce Coffee Fellowship & Adult Forum at end of service to encourage attendance Increased attendance due to proximity to Sanctuary

Building Usage ADULT FORUM:
Move to the Chapel Recently renovated Comfortably seats 40+ Easy to find for potential new members Easy access for senior members Increased attendance due to proximity to Sanctuary and Sunday Coffee Fellowship Rear door allows attendees to come and go without disrupting presentation No weekly maintenance set-up charges Chapel still available for memorial services, small funerals and weddings, as well as quiet meditation.

Building Usage NURSERY: If committed to nursery, return to sanctuary level
Current infant nursery is cramped and too far from Sanctuary. Separate infant and toddler nurseries not practical for a church of our size.

Building Usage YOUTH PROGRAMS:
Create youth education “HUB” Parents can drop all Sunday School aged children off in one location. Create check-in/check-out system for younger children Children can aspire to graduating to “next level”

Building Usage COMPUTER ROOM:
Incorporate current computer room into Youth Education “HUB” Current set-up is antiquated not allowing room to be used for any other purpose. Work with PADS/ESL to apply for a grant for a mobile computer cart with lap-tops that can be moved from room to room Property committee currently working to strengthen WIFI throughout the building

Building Usage LSSI ROOM: Nice room that has turned into “catch-all”. Consider additional uses, such as a “Mother’s Room” during services (add wireless speaker), or space for high school or middle school small groups.

Many complaints about lack of storage Storage Organization Not utilizing existing storage to full extent Cleaning out closets part of May 20th Work Day Establish who is authorized to keep or toss stored items.

While dated, the kitchen functions well for large events Do not recommend full scale renovation Recommend replacing refrigerator Recommend purchasing mobile dishwasher for large events Hot water mentioned as an issue; heater is new. The water heater is turned down to save energy and can be adjusted as needed for special events. ESSE warming drawer just replaced by ESSE
