ELSA Emergency Life Support Apparatus
2
What is an EEBD?
3
Emergency Escape Breathing Devices
EEBD’s are respiratory devices designed for escaping in emergency situations, hazardous areas or environments which are Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health (IDLH) They are meant to be worn in situations where the breathable air quality has been compromised and it is critical to quickly escape contaminants
4
Emergency Escape Breathing Devices
They have a small cylinder with a limited duration of 10 or 15 minutes They can be either positive pressure or constant flow These types of apparatus can utilise either hoods or facemasks
5
Emergency Escape Breathing Devices
EEBD’s must only be used as a means of escaping They should not be used for: Normal working Entry to hazardous areas Rescue

History of the ELSA

The ELSA was pioneered by Sabre in 1982
History of the ELSA Why Scott RPE? Slide objective Set out clearly defined benefits that the client can expect to realise by engaging with Scott Presentation tip This is the key slide in the presentation. It is critically important on this slide to recognise what the benefit of the key message is to the client. Use knowledge of the client's needs to tailor the benefits of these key messages to them and ensure that these benefits are repeated throughout the presentation. Ensure that language is focused on the client rather than on Scott (i.e. you will see increased productivity, rather than Scott will help to increase productivity). History of the ELSA The 3rd generation ELSA was developed around the year 2000 and today there are four different models within the ELSA range. The different models have been developed in order to withstand the range of applications that the ELSA is used in and in response to the ever increasing standards. Why Scott RPE?
