Background Perkins Products (PP) established a relationship with Salesforce (SF) in 2007 for sales management Salesforce instance was created and configured for PP IT invited to use SF in 2013—purposes were not defined at the time

Salesforce Platform Originally built for sales, developed into a platform for virtually anything Core is CRM—accounts, contacts, leads, campaigns, opportunties Apps can be developed from scratch or can be download from the App Exchange Sandboxes can be used for development, experimentation

Salesforce Platform Cloud-based Accessible for screen reader users
Integration with Outlook, Google Mobile-enabled with Salesforce 1 app Workflow for transaction routing/approvals Simple reporting/dashboarding within the app is drag and drop Can be both internal/external facing

Salesforce Platform Custom objects can be developed
Granular security through roles, profiles, and users Page layouts, fields can be customized per role Compliant with HIPPA/FERPA

Important Salesforce Terms
Accounts refer to a group of people either within a company/organization or within a household Hold demographic information (address, etc) E.g. Perkins School for the Blind, Nero Household Contacts are people—usually associated to an account E.g. David Nero would be a contact, Perkins would be the associated account

Licensing Salesforce provides 10 licenses to non-profits for free
Additional licenses are deeply discounted, but can still be costly Licenses are varied—depends on need of user, ranging from full access to light use/free 16 licenses in 1 instance, 10 in the other

Overall Contact Management/CRM Other Ed Program activities, like JTrack, Community Programs Case Management Anything where we need to evolve up from an Access Database and/or excel spreadsheet and/or paper
