1 A very common form of training due to its flexibility and easy set up
Training Methods Circuit Training A very common form of training due to its flexibility and easy set up

2 Setting Up Each station must be clearly marked with diagram for correct technique. Six to twelve stations Exercises need to be demonstrated to ensure correct technique. Variety of exercises to work on all the muscles or aspects of fitness that you require. Ensure that exercises hitting the same muscle groups are spaced out to avoid overworking them. There must be a recovery period built into the circuit. (Work rest ratio)

3 Advantages Very flexible and easy to set up.
Can work on many different aspects of fitness (muscular endurance, power, cardiovascular fitness, skills). Can exercises lots of people at the sane time.

4 Disadvantages Need large space for people to move and exercise in.
Need someone to keep the time and organise the movement around the circuit.

5 Running the Circuit Timed circuits – set time for each station and aim is to complete as many as possible before rest and moving on to next station. E.g. work for 40 sec rest for 20 secs. Fixed load – each station has a set amount of work to be done at it e.g. 30 sit ups bit no time limit. Varied laps= most consist of one or more laps. They can be the same or reduce/increase rest time etc. You can have a sprint lap on fixed load where you try to complete the whole lap as quickly as possible.

6 Task Class work/H/W Produce a fitness circuit (see page 83)
Minimum 8 stations working different body parts. Name the exercise and the muscle group being exercised. Decide how you are going to run your circuit is fixed load, time, varied laps and how many laps baring in mind we must work for minimum 20mins Now produce a skills circuit for your chosen sport 8 stations again stating which component of fitness (skill related) you are developing.
