1 The Pierlite T5 STREETLIGHT

2 The Pierlite T5 Streetlight
Integral Energy NSW Concept Replacement for the 80w MV and 2 x 18/20w that will meet AS/NZS1158 and AS/NZS3771 standards. Longer lamp life to extend maintenance period. Provides better visual guidance and orientation along the road. Energy efficient with low running costs. IP 65 to allow better maintenance factors. High quality white light. Looks good.

3 New Luminaire components
Selected T5 14w standard and 24w HO Lamps. ECG gear. To achieve High efficiency with AS compliant optics. Reliable luminaire that will meet standards.

4 T5 Fluorescent lamp - background
Released in 95 - not new and unproven. Developed by worlds leading lamp companies – Osram, Philips and GE. Almost all new commercial projects now use it. Different parameters to be considered in design .

5 T5 – Key Performance Factors
Smaller diam 16mm – better efficiency +5% High lumen output-up to 90 lm/w, double MV. Long life - expect over 20K hours - many examples Osram T5 data on 3 hr cycle shows 10% lumen depreciation at approx 18k hours. Low mercury to dispose at end of life - 3mg vs mg for MV – legislation pending already Lamps enclosed so low temperature operation possible and drop in output not significant. Excellent colour rendering and choice of colours.

6 ECG Ballast Background
Over 20 years and 500,000 pieces sold in Australia p/a. Will become main ballast type in next few years Not just fluorescent, also HID. Reliable, cheap, cost effective. Choice of suppliers from leading companies. To IEC standards on surge and over voltage protection. Fittings comply with AS3771 high voltage surge test. Used in exteriors, streetlighting, industrial, tunnels already in Europe USA, Latin America and Australia Additional protection from surges available at low cost if required for specific areas.

8 T5 ECG Key Performance factors
Total circuit watts of 2 x 14w ECG only 31w, 2 x 24w only 52w. Replacing 2 x 18/20w immediate 30% power reduction Replacing 80w MV immediate 65% power reduction ECG extends lamp life. ECG will provide constant light output with voltage fluctuation .Our supply varies v, standard gear will vary light output substantially. Guaranteed for 5 years, typical life in excess of 100,000 hrs long cycle.

9 Design of the T5 Greenstreet
Production Concept

10 Key features and benefits
IP65 for better sealing, longer maintenance cycles High impact acrylic lens, smooth exterior easier to clean Silicon gasket attached to lens Rugged Die cast aluminium body 4 Stainless clips allow diffuser to hinge for maintenance Reflector assembly easily removed Lamp compartment sealed at factory and not opened during installation to keep lamp area clean Separate wiring compartment cover push fits on after installation D2 cell base can be supplied

11 Technical compliance IP65 test certificate NATA
AS3771 key areas including Impulse test AS3771 and thermal endurance and safety C tick mark for EMC compliance Osram 5 year ballast guarantee AS3771 Wind test assessment Mounting to AS3771 , 34mm OD spigot 3 pole terminal block, optional FTB Cable clamp to AS3771

12 Patented Optical system

14 Performance High performance reflector and lens. 84% LOR, 4% UWLR
To maximise output and spacing. At most P4 and P5 road width and spacing criteria Greenstreet 2 x14w matches 80w MV performance A GS214 can therefore replace MV80 with huge energy savings When replacing TF20,power is reduced by 1/3 and maintenance improved from 18 months to 4-5 years. Design will comply with AS category P5 in most cases

15 Additional performance factors
With 24w lamps the fittings operate warmer and will suit very cold conditions, to sub zero With 14w lamps fitting will start to - 20 C but light output at 0 deg or lower can fall below 80% of max. This is not a problem for most areas of Australia

16 Maximum spacing at different road widths at 6
Maximum spacing at different road widths at 6.5 m mounting height Lighting Category: P5 Spacing Road reserve width

17 Energy Consumption in Watts

18 Using 10,000 x 14w T5 streetlights instead of 80W MV will save:
2,480 MWh of electricity being generated per annum. 2,500 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. Big savings for CCP councils. Hg

19 Summary T5 lamp is much more efficient than mercury and T8 fluorescent. In most P type applications the T5 can replace a 20w fluorescent or 80w mercury streetlight. The 2 x 14w uses only 33% of the power of an 80w mercury light. Maintenance is reduced due to better sealing and longer lamp life. Greatly reduced mercury content
