Blood Covenant Part 6 4/30/2017 The Law is as it were a writing in itself, dead, and without efficacy: but the Gospel, and New Covenant, as it were the very power of God itself, in renewing, justifying, and saving men. The Law offers death, accusing all men of unrighteousness: the Gospel offers and gives righteousness and life. Calvin

2 Corinthians 11:23-28 Acts 9 – Plot to kill him at Damascus, then Jerusalem Acts 14 – Attempted stoning in Iconium Acts 14 – Successful stoning at Lystra Acts 16 – Philippi – beaten, jailed Acts 18 – Arrested in Corinth Acts 21 – Arrested/beaten in Jerusalem Acts men plot to kill Paul Acts 28 - Paul in jail in Rome

Acts 15:10-11 Now, therefore, why are you putting God to the test by placing a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe that we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, just as they will. - Peter

Galatians 3:23-26 Now before faith came, we were held captive under the law, imprisoned until the coming faith would be revealed. So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian, for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

2 Corinthians 3:5-6 Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

2 Corinthians 3:7-11 Ministry of death vs. ministry of the Spirit
Ministry of condemnation vs. ministry of righteousness Temporary vs. permanent Fading glory vs. surpassing glory

2 Corinthians 3:12-16 Fading glory Hardened minds Old Covenant keeps the veil on But, when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed!

2 Corinthians 3:17-18 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Hebrews 9:15 Therefore He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.

Hebrews 9:23-24 Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.

Hebrews 9:27-28 And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.

Hebrews 10:9-10 then He added, “Behold, I have come to do your will.” He does away with the first in order to establish the second. And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that He opened for us through the curtain, that is, through His flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Hebrews 13:20-21 Now may the God of peace Who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to Whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

For Our Consideration Can you compare and contrast the Old and New Covenants, and why does it even matter? What does being changed into the image of Jesus mean to you? What does having Jesus as our Great High Priest mean to you? What does drawing near to God mean to you?

Prayer Focus Thank You Lord for the New Covenant Thank You for the Word of God which explains truth to us Thank You for Your wonderful gift of salvation Thank You for a new day to begin or walk on with You
