3 Water Covers Earth Earth is covered by three fourths of the water.
There are 2.5 percent fresh water and saltwater.

4 The Water Facts The average person needs 5 gallons of water a day. We use 15 gallons for a shower, and 55 soda bottles to grow an apple. A person drinks 2,000 gallons of water twice the global average. The first fact says how much you need to grow food and how much you drink in water by gallons. The next fact says how much everybody drinks ever in the world every day.

5 The rest of the world uses about 5 gallons of water a day.
Daily Water Usage Americans use gallons of water a day.

6 Chronic Diarrhea has to do with drinking dirty water
Chronic Diarrhea has to do with drinking dirty water. One tenth of diseases are caused by dirty water. Many people die from diarrhea…a couple million die from that each day. People live in Africa and they get 10 to 40 liters of water a day. It is hard to get clean water because the salt water is every where. 1% of the 3% of water that is fresh is ready for people to drink. But a small amount of water is left.

7 Water Tips Save water by taking shorter showers and you save 9 gallons of water. Turning off the faucet you can save 8 gallons just brushing your teeth and turn off at night. The toilet has a leak and that wastes 200 gallons and if you fix it you have 50 gallons. If you use the hose you waste 5 gallons ever minute and you only waste a few. You turn off the TV and don’t let it stay on and you waste a lot of money. Making something small you waste a lot of energy our use a toaster or microwave. 97 % of earth’s water is in the oceans. Only 3 % of the earth’s water can be used as drinking water. 75 % of the world’s fresh water is frozen in the polar ice caps. The average person in the United States uses 80 to 100 gallons of water each day. During medieval times a person used only 5 gallons per day. 87 % of New Jersey’s population obtains its drinking water from a public water system and 13 % from private residential wells. It takes about 1 gallon of water to process a quarter pound of hamburger. It takes 2,072 gallons of water to make four new tires. Sources of water pollution include: oil spills, fertilizer and agricultural run-off, sewage, storm water, and industrial wastes.
