2 Cover Look at the cross Pope Francis has on, what do you see?
It portrays the Good Shepherd. Jesus is in the foreground, a lamb on his shoulders; behind, and following him, there is the herd of sheep. A dove flies above, recalling the presence of the Holy Spirit.  Who Stands by you and protects you? What shepherds or guides your life?

Read the first paragraph together Have any of you ever cared for siblings or neighbors children? What are some things you do to protect them? Finish reading for homework and answer the questions on the handout What life experience prepared Father Stan to be a missionary in Santiago Atitlan? How did Father Stan get to know the people he served? Why do you think Father Stan stayed in Guatemala knowing he likely would be killed? Names two example of how Father Stan acted like a good shepherd? What is the personal message you take away from reading about Father Stan?
