4 LLM in International Justice
About the Programme The LLM programme in International Justice provides students with critical insights into the field of international justice. It focuses, in particular, on issues of human rights, equality, and social inclusion in the context of international law. It provides insights into how the international legal order works, and how it seeks to protect vulnerable groups, including minorities, migrants, and people with disabilities. It critiques the applicable legal regimes, and illustrates how these systems operate in practice.

Programme Structure: The LLM is offered on a full time basis over a full academic year and on a part time basis over 2 years. Students undertake 65 taught credits, including a module focussing on professional development, and a Dissertation (25 credits). A PG Diploma is also available.

Who Should Apply? The programme is open to students with degrees in law and cognate areas, including international relations, anthropology, social studies, sociology, politics, and other inter‑disciplinary degrees which have a focus on the international community order. Candidates should have a minimum 2.2 grade, honours (level 8) degree.

Career Options: The programme will prepare students for policy and advocacy work in national, regional, and international organisations with a social and economic justice mandate. It also provides legal practitioners with an expertise in international law

9 MA in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice
About the Programme: Criminology deals with the study of crime. The MA in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice provides students with insights into global and comparative approaches to criminal activity It provides students with research tools to assess statistics in relation to crime

Who should apply? The programme is open to students with degrees in law and cognate areas, including sociology, social policy, psychology, political science and other, related, inter‑disciplinary degrees. Candidates should have a minimum 2.2 grade, honours (level 8) degree.

13 MA in Comparative Criminology and Criminal Justice
Career Options: The programme will allow students to build upon their existing qualifications with a view to accessing positions within the justice and security field, with the additional advantage that students will be provided with a genuinely international and comparative outlook. Graduates may go on to work in careers within An Garda Síochána, the security industry, data analytics, probation, the prison service, the civil service, research institutes, academia, and the NGO sector.

14 LLM in IJ and MA in Crim Programme Delivery:
Teaching is delivered by means of small class lectures, in‑class simulations, workshops, and master classes. In addition to the modules, the Department works with leading academics and practitioners who provide seminars in various fields of international justice throughout the academic year. The Department also offers a series of ‘Film Nights’ when documentaries and feature films on seminal events in international justice are screened and discussed.

15 LLM in IJ and MA in Crim Placements and Community Engagement
LLM students can combine theory and practice as part of our innovative Advocacy module. Placement opportunities with partner civil society organisations, such as Transparency International, Oxfam, and Trócaire are offered. Students will be placed for 2–3 days per week with an NGO for one semester and will get credit for this work towards their degree. Students also have the opportunity to engage in voluntary research projects with a variety of civil society organisations, such as Scholars at Risk

16 Higher Diploma in Legal Studies
About the Programme: The Higher Diploma provides people with a legal knowledge which will complement their knowledge in their degree area Increasingly, technical personnel, administrators, and policy-makers are being required to have an in-depth knowledge of relevant legal advances and to deploy an enormous array of analytical, conceptual, professional, and writing skills. Higher Diploma in Legal Studies addresses this need by offering students a strong core of legal knowledge to support more advanced specialised legal topics pertinent to many typical non-law careers.

17 Higher Diploma in Legal Studies
Programme Structure: Students must complete 60 credits over the course of the year; 30 credits per semester. 1 year Fulltime
