Civic Minded, Socially Conscious
Junior Senior Chamber is a specialized civic volunteer committee of Guymon High School students functioning within the Guymon Chamber of Commerce. This committee is a socially conscious group of uniquely blended students who'll desire to achieve a direct impact on the community they serve while earning a reward for their effort.

We are asking you to serve this community, while at the same time, help your committee membership create a “*Life-betterment” opportunity for at least one or more graduating Guymon High School Senior. *Life-betterment - a non-scholarship award. Realizing that not all students know their exact “next step” from high school, the award will have either an immediate or delayed impact result. For example: training, tools, travel expenses can be applied for up to six months following graduation.

In addition, we have formed a partnership with Oklahoma Panhandle State University where OPSU will award $1000 scholarships to each graduating senior of this committee who meets the committee’s criteria. The $1000 scholarship will become $4000 as long as the student remains in good standing with the University.

The Chamber’s Board Committee felt it necessary for the JS Chamber Committee have a project that fits their sense of peer to peer. The Committee will first assume the project management of a community recycling project. We have partnered with S & H Recycling (219 NE 5th, Guymon) to provide bins, pickup, sort and redeem for cash residential recyclables such as beverage cans, clear plastics, paper and card board. Beginning with a once a month Recycle Day, The JS Committee will brand the project as “Recycle Guymon.” The effort will be to market, fund raise and build awareness.
6
The committee goal is to heighten awareness and produce a positive impact for community recycling and to discover creative avenues to generate funds for the Life Betterment awards. The committee is not limited to Recycle Guymon and is encouraged to explore and create other projects they feel complement their core values.
