What is PARCC? 43 states and Washington D.C. have adopted the
Common Core State Standards 14 states including NJ are using PARCC * Linked to what students need to know for college and careers

How is PARCC Different? NJASK PARCC and EYA) • Computer based/ Tech
• Administered twice (PBA and EYA) • Computer based/ Tech • ELA Grades 3-11 • Math Grades 3-8 • No Science • 75 minutes per day • Regular Day NJASK Administered once Paper based/ No tech ELA & Math (3-8 &11) Science (4 & 8) minutes per day

Required PARCC Assessments
Performance Based Assessment End-of-Year Assessment Given in March Tests critical thinking Reading comprehension Writing in response to reading Research Simulations Real World Applications March 2-6 Grade 4 & 5 March 9,10, 16, 17, 18 – Grade 3 Given in May Short answer items Reading comprehension Math conceptual understanding and skills May 4-8 Grades 4 & 5 May Grade 3

PBA Grades 4 & 5 The PARCC Problem Based Assessment for 4th & 5th Grades will be administered starting March 2, through 6, The schedule reflects estimated time on task; extra time allowed for all students and total unit testing time and the units being administered. Student will spend and estimated minutes testing for each session

PBA Grade 3 The PARCC Problem Based Assessment 3rd grade will be administered starting March 9,10, 16, 17 and 18, The schedule reflects estimated time on task; extra time allowed for all students and total unit testing time and the units being administered.

How will PARCC Results be Used..
To assist teachers in supporting students To inform parents and students on progress towards “on track” college and career readiness To inform schools and districts on curricula, instructional and professional development needs By NJ’s college and universities as one of the indicators off a student’s readiness for entry-level, credit-bearing college courses PARCC Results Will Not Be Used…. To impact student’s grades To retain students
