Finding suitable pictures
39
Using resources created by others
You can use texts, pictures and audio files produced by other authors as long as you have permission. You need to acknowledge your sources. When using pictures, it is important to check the licence and use only pictures whose authors allow use for educational purposes.
40
Locating suitable pictures
You can find suitable pictures from: Wikimedia Commons Flickr (the commons) Google images (advanced search, that can be modified, etc.)
41
Wikimedia Commons http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page
Enter a key word
42
Wikimedia commons ‘Wikimedia Commons is a media file repository making available public domain and freely-licensed educational media content (images, sound and video clips) to everyone…’ Files can be copied, used and modified Source and author(s) must be credited appropriately Copies/improvements must be released under the same freedom to others. The license conditions of each individual media file can be found on their description page.
43
I entered ‘pasta’ in the search box and found this picture
44
Below this picture, I can find all the information I need:
The name of the author (by following the link) The licence I will paste this picture on my materials and add the name of the author.
45
Collaborating with colleagues
46
An example of collaboration
This resource was originally uploaded by Anna Calvi. This is a resource I have uploaded to LORO. My friend has slightly simplified it and acknowledged me and the OU. 46
47
A colleague (who lives in Venice) created an exercise using the same technique.
She has then created an exercise using the same technique 47
