9 “HEALTHY HILL” IS BORN! “Northampton High School Principal Bryan Lombardi said it has been an issue since at least 2007, when he began as associate principal, and explained that the school has tried a number of ways to address it, at one time closing the gate, only to have people sneak under.” “...officials met with former Northampton High School football coach Ed Zadworny, who acknowledged drinking had historically been an issue on the hill but said alumni wanted to work out a way to watch from that venue.” “The solution: ‘Healthy Hill.’ The high school is partnering with the Northampton Prevention Coalition to sponsor an event that highlights sobriety, requiring anyone who wishes to watch from the hill to buy a wristband. These will cost an additional $5 beyond the $5 tickets. And no food or drink except what is sold in the concession stands will be allowed. Provost said he hopes to foster a more age-appropriate atmosphere for students and their parents, without drinking or heckling.” - Daily Hampshire Gazette

November 27, 2015 ·  Either the name “Healthy Hill” caught on, or spectators at the Northampton- Easthampton Thanksgiving Day football game were not in a party mood on the holiday. “With school officials taking precautions against the possibility of rowdiness in the area across from the football field’s stadium known as “the hill,” viewers in that section showed respectful behavior Thursday morning. ‘I want to see this at every Thanksgiving, every event,’ Northampton High School principal Bryan Lombardi said while watching the game from the hill.” –Daily Hampshire Gazette
