Reasons for Carrying out Survey
We were getting better with our cervical smear intake with the SIPS Rates improved from 70% to >90% Survey carried out to ascertain any areas for improvement and to identify strengths.

Questions regarding staff
100% of patients said they felt that staff Listened to them Gave them enough time Treated them in a helpful and friendly way Made sure that the patient understood what was happening 97% thought that they were given good advice and treatment ( 1 person did not answer)

Comments: All comments were positive with no patients giving any way in which the smear service could improve. Patient’s overall felt they were dealt with in a respectful and professional manner with the smear being carried out satisfactorily.

Patient Demographics The sample size for this survey was 32 patients. 100% were female ( as this was a smear survey). The ethnic variety of this sample population was as follows: Indian: 47% Fiji Indian: 16% NZ European:12.5% Tongan: 3% NZ Maori:6% Asian: 12%

Plans for future Improvement
Sending smear invites in different languages We believe that this could be improved by taking more time to explain to patients that cervical smear is a routine procedure and has a reasonably low chance of changes being found so that they are not so nervous before smears We also want to ensure that we make an effort to respect a patient’s decision to decline to have their smear taken. Continue to educate women to have their smears

Plans for future continued
Have better random selection for future surveys Present survey consisted of random women who has come for appointments in the clinic and face to face data collection may have created a result bias
