SPRC TRAINING creating a culture of Harmony

Quick overview of the committee of the SPRC Beginning to build a culture of harmony

SPRC Worship Matthew 18:15-17
If another member of the church sins against you, go and point out the fault when the two of you are alone. If the member listens to you, you have regained that one.
4
But if you are not listened to, take one or two others along with you, so that every word may be confirmed by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If the member refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church and if that offender refuses to listen even to the church, let such a one be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
5
Ephesians 4:15-16 But speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every ligament with which it is equipped, as each part is working properly, promotes the body's growth in building itself up in love.

Great is Thy Faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is not shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not; as thou has been, thou forever wilt be. Great is thy faithfulness Great is thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided; great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

An Invitation to Christ #466
Come, my Light, and illumine my darkness. Come, my Life, and revive me from death. Come, my Physician, and heal my wounds. Come, Flame of divine love, and burn up the thorns of my sins, kindling my heart with the flame of thy love, Come, my King, sit upon the throne of my heart and reign there. For thou alone art my King and my Lord. Amen.

Building Culture What is a triangle in communications and relationships? A triangled relationship occurs when two people talk together about and for another person in a way that avoids or denies a direct, face to face relationship with the other, (third person)
16
healthier relationship
In healthier relationship systems people do not spend their time with each other focusing negatively on an absent third person. Instead they work toward building one to one relationships with each other. In a one to one relationship, the focus of conversation for each person is on him or her own experiences or about the mutual relationship between the two.
17
Especially when it is complicated
Where do we Start?? Especially when it is complicated
18
Start with your committee
Ways the SPRC committee becomes triangled: 1. You are on the committee to speak for yourself, not for a group in the church. 2. Always keep the vision of the church. 3. Make sure that you are not triangled for or against either the Pastor or a group in the church. 4. Speak your opinion clearly and without accusations. 5. The do's and don't of conflict management
19
Building the plan that leaders to a new culture
Standards of Conduct For a Healthy Church Discuss the areas of concern with your group Begin to pull pieces together Look over the two anti-triangulation policies. What would be different? What would be the same.
20
What is missing? How would you handle these situations?
What would the SPRC committee do with a staff member that is holding resentments. It is getting in the way of his/her job? A group is concerned about the amount of money that is paid out in Salaries. The church has decreased in size. The Pastor presents that he/she deserves a pay raise. How would your group handle this? People are beginning to talk. Pastor just got out of the hospital. But refuses to care for himself/herself. How would you handle it?
21
Where to go from here? Take it back to the SPRC committee. Have the committee member sign the policy Do the tough internal work - Are we triangled in any way? How can we be healthier? Present it at the next Ad. Council meeting. Make a presentation in church Bring it to church conference for a vote. Carry out the policy in love. Keep each other on track.
