8 Industry soundbites “I say we’re in show business, people want to be entertained. “We are creating a new segment – ‘dinertainment’. Let’s call it something new.” Jinlong Wang, Chief Executive, PizzaExpress “Great food and great service is the base level to survive now. You are no longer just providing the food, you’re now content providers for people’s Instagram and Snapchat. The whole experience has become much more important.” Chris Miller, founder, White Rabbit Growth Fund “One untapped resource is older people. They’re actually rather good - they’re understanding, they’re a bit more comfortable. When they’re waiting tables they’re not saying how they want to be a model or telling people about their tattoos.” Jeremy King, co-founder, Corbin & King “We try not to think about being cool - we don’t want to place ourselves at the fickle end of the market. But if we get a few cool points along the way, that’s always good.” Matt Grech-Smith, co-founder, Swingers “Smaller independent brands are better at social media because they’re not trying so hard to do it, it’s more natural. When there’s 44 restaurants opening in London in September, half the battle is letting people know you’re still there.” Industry consultant and investor Adam Hyman
