4 First Time Set-up: Turning on Device
Press and hold the button located on the top right side of the device This screen indicates the device is powering on

5 Device Navigation: Lock and Unlock
Screen Locks automatically after 1 minutes of not being used Screen is locked to prevent accidental activation of application Screen is turned off to save battery

To unlock drag the slider to the end of the screen

There can be multiple screens with applications that you cannot see from the home screen To see how many applications there are, look at the screen indicator The number of circles indicates the number of screens The white circle indicates the current screen

To move between screens, scroll your finger in the direction opposite of the screen you want to reach For example if we want to reach the right screen, drag the screen with your finger from right to left

9 Device Navigation: Search Function
If you have too many applications, a quick way to find your application may be the Search function To activate it, slide one fingers about one inch from the top, towards the bottom to reveal the search screen

10 Device Navigation: Running Applications
To run an application, simply click the icon of the program. The program will run instantly

11 Device Navigation: Home Screen
To return to the Home screen from any application, click the home button at any time. Clicking the Home button does not terminate the application. It stays resident and consumes memory

To open the task manager, tap the Home button twice FAST …and the task manager will open revealing each running task

Dragging to the left will reveal more running applications (if available) Click on the application you want to switch to

To terminate an application, drag it from the bottom to the top Terminating an application releases the memory that application uses Terminate all other application except iFormBuilder for an optimum experience

Place your finger on the middle of the screen, and drag it upwards Brightness Rotation Lock Music play controls

18 Device Navigation: Turning Device Off
Location of the on/off button is the same on almost all devices Hold the button on the top right side of the device for 5 seconds Slide your finger across the slider to turn device off

19 Connecting to the Wireless Network
In order to connect to the internet, we need to connect to a wireless network WITH internet The office where you work needs to provide this wireless connection You cannot connect to the internet without it (unless you are using a 3G iPad or iPhone) Your local IT contact (or someone else) needs to tell you what wireless network you can connect to, and what password to use

20 Connecting to the Wireless Network
Select Settings Click Wi-Fi Find your office network from the list of networks Click on it Type in the password provided Click the Join button You will know you are connected when the WiFi indicator is on

21 Disconnecting from the wireless network
Select Settings Click the Airplane Mode button from Off to On – this will automatically turn off Wi-Fi on your device The Wireless Signal will disappear This helps preserve power of the device When not syncing data to the internet ALWAYS turn Airplane Mode On

23 Device Settings Most iOS applications have an intuitive user interface for navigating back and forth between menus On the first menu we have the submenus as icon Once we enter a submenu, the previous menu is available as a button next to the title Once we click that button we will be back in the previous menu Following the button back from several layers deep will bring us back to the main menu

Some general settings that may be needed in day to day work: Brightness Brightness should be set to 50% unless sun is too bright, in which case it should be set to 100% It is the second largest consumer of battery, so make sure it’s at the lowest setting where you can read comfortably

Some general settings that may be needed in day to day work: Bluetooth Bluetooth should be turned OFF unless you are connecting to a device such as Dual XGPS or Barcode scanner If you’re not using it, turn it off

Software keyboard when activated Space key for leaving empty space between words Return key for new lines Backspace to delete a character Numbers and additional characters Shift key to switch between lowercase and uppercase text Regional keyboard, for local language input uPPerCaSe Deleteeeeeee Text with space Text with New line

Software keyboard when activated Contains numbers for numeric entry Symbols for symbol entry To find more symbols, press this key To go back to text input, press the ABC key To go back to number input, press the 123 key

International keyboard To view international keyboard input, press the globe button (keyboard must be installed, or icon will be missing.) International keyboard will appear. If multiple keyboards, we have to press the button a few times to rotate between keyboards

32 Admin: Charging Recommendations
Use ONLY GKIM recommended chargers / charger models. Using another charger may seriously deteriorate battery life or even burn the device Recommended time to start charging the device is after the power level drops to below 30% (if available). Device should be charged until it reaches 100% capacity (99% under battery extender). If you notice device is overheating while charging unplug until device cools. Make sure you are using approved charging device
